Between Escort and the top end Whistler products like the the 78SE? Which do you like better and why? Escort is a lot higher priced so I was wondering what features stand out on the Escort that make it a better RD.

Talk to DJrams80. He will tell you all about whistler vs. escort. The basic idea is that whistler can perform well, but only does so in certain environments. If there is a ton of RF or other signals like electrical interference that can mess with the detector, the whistler can be seriously hampered. The escorts seem to be less affected by these variables.

I have personally used a whistler SE series. It was very good in my driving conditions, but those are not metropolitan at all. I drive in upstate NY. Most of the problems noted with the whistlers have been encountered in areas around major cities I believe.

Also, most people believe that the whistler SE sucks unless the radar is pointed right at it, basically, it isn't good at off axis detection. I can't really verify this from my experience.

Reliability wise, i think escort better. But warranty on whistler is great and they stand by the product.

If you live in a rural / suburban environment and don't drive within close proximity to major cities a lot i think you can do great with a whistler and its nice features.

IF you live in an environment with tons of signal pollution, you probably want to spend a little more and get the escort/ beltronics.
