I have a 9500ix. Do I need Escort Live?

Like the title says. I just picked up a 9500ix two weeks ago. Still getting used to it because I also have an RX65(S7). My questions are is escort live necessary with the 9500ix, and can I use my subscription to the database with my RX65 and the escort live app? All responses are appriciated.

You won't be using the GPS alert filter of Live because your IX does just that so you would only use the ''speed traps locator'' feature.

I would say it is not worth it for the moment for 80$ but because you bought your IX only 2 weeks ago, you can call and they will give you Live for 40$. I would say try it because it is very cheap and if you are not satisfy, you can probably sell it for more.

Your RX65 (S7) will not work with Escort Live...only the newer M4's will.

If you want gps and your detector already has it I would not get live if it was me. With your detector you put it on your windshield and plug it in when you get in your car. Reverse that when you get out. If you always leave it in your car you do nothing.

Escort live is an extra few steps to get your phone open to the app, plug in the live cable, set the phone in your phone mount, etc. Too much work everytime you get in and out of the car for me. Too bad live is a subscription cus is feel like is have to use it all the time to get my moneys worth, when really the only time I would use it is on road trips.

And it can be worthless on road trips. It has to have a constant data connection for it to work. If another Live! user is on the same route as you and gets hit with I/O and there is no data coverage, it will never be reported...even if the data connection loss was for just for a mile or two.

It's not made for travelers, I think it's made for folks commuting to their cubicles and back home.

I disagree with this. I think it will perfect for road trips. I plan to use it on long road trips on the 101 and the 5 to the Bay Area, on the 15 to Vegas, on the 10 to Arizona and on the 40 to the Colorado River. These routes have fairly constant cell coverage and I usually see lots of detector users on these road trips. This product might flop, but I doubt it will be because of cell coverage problems.

Or is it you feel that Live! not reporting those encounters is fine?

I disagree with your premise that Escort Live! will be useless for road trips. Most of the road trips I take have pretty solid cell coverage.

That's not what I said. I said it CAN be worthless on road trips. If an alert is encountered by another user in a data-dead area, then the alert will never be reported...even if you are in the part of the "pretty solid cell coverage" area where you have a data . Unless you believe contacts occur in areas where data coverage exists, then I don't see how you can disagree with what I said. Especially considering you even admit that you don't have continuous data coverage on the road trips you speak of.

It's really not uncommon at all for data coverage to be non-continuous when traveling...even if your cell phone allows calls. Try keeping a data connection on a road trip some time and you will see what I mean.
