Default Redline Not Detecting Some Speed Signs?

    Hello guys,

I've been using the Redline since May 2010, and I noticed recently that it will not detect some road speed signs. I have driven past those speed signs with it displaying my speed but my Redline is completely silent. I'm not sure if the Redline is failing or not, but it does give some concern.

However, my Redline has detected everything else, including pharmacies and such. I have had a Massachusetts State Trooper speed past me but the Redline blared full blast all of a sudden in K Band right after he passed me. Does it not have good ramp up? I know the trooper has had his rear antenna on the whole time. Does anyone have an explanation for this? I hope it's not a problem with the Redline.

If your RedLine is detecting false alerts then it is probably operating correctly. Many times the "your speed is ___" signs fall out of calibration and drift outside of the radar band that they are supposed to operate in. When this happens a radar detector will not detect them.

Keep an eye on your RedLine's detections of police radar. If the detection ranges are not stellar then please contact us at the number in my signature below to have it serviced.

We know the Redline doesn't have a good ramp up to begin with... but it doesn't seem to be the issue here.

For that trooper incident you are probably right saying he was shooting from behind because the Redline sucks for detecting ''away'' radar.

Radar is directional. The only way for any detector to detect a signal aimed away from you is for the radar transmission to be reflected back to you. Without a reflection you will get no detection from any detector until you pass it.

Due to it's extreme detection range and off-axis detection, RedLine detects radar aimed away from you better than any other detector.
