Default Couple questions about 8500 x50

    Questions below and stuff.

While going through my 8500 x50 radar settings, I went to the bands settings

It was set to BandsMOD meaning something was obviously modified.

When I turned off TSR and POP and left everything else on, it changed from BandsMOD to BandsDFT meaning to the default settings.

I currently live in Las Vegas and many forums are saying all the police have 35.5 Ka band units.

    Would I need TSR?
    I turned off X and K.

I left Ka and Laser on.
Anyone living in the Las Vegas, Nevada area, I heard and looked online that Las Vegas police only use Ka units? mainly?

Because I disabled X and K and TSR. as the quote above explained^^^

You do not need TSR in Las Vegas. I have yet to see the K band traffic monitoring drones anywhere on my many drives to the Las Vegas area.

I have seen K band once though, so I would suggest that you turn that on.

As far as pop goes, NHP uses pop-capable radar units, but I've never seen them use them in pop mode. Just regular constant-on and instant-on.

I've seen all three versions of Ka band all throughout Las Vegas. Laser also. So beware, because speeding in Las Vegas without a very good radar detector and a very good laser jammer is risky business.

    So basically have
    X off
    K on
    Ka on
    POP on
    TSR off
    LSR on?

I personally would keep pop off, because it makes for fewer false alerts and having pop enabled could reduce performance on the other bands, but some here would probably disagree with that because of the fact that NHP uses pop-capable radar units.

As far as laser goes, on or off probably won't matter. If you get hit by laser, your unit might alert or it might not. Either way, you're probably toast anyhow. Laser alerts are basically ticket notification alerts. The LEO will likely have aquired your speed by the time your X50 alerts to laser. The only consistently effective defense against laser is a laser jammer.

No, that is a terrible laser jammer.

This is a fantastic laser jammer.

    Front and back protection.

This is a decent laser jammer.

Is the Escort Radar 8500 x50 Black (Lastest) be a very good radar detector?
