Escort 8500 X50 'Service Required' showing up???

Bought a 8500 X50 Red - thats 6 years old and it saying Service Required? Some times it will clear if turned on and off. Is there a Reset or something i can do without sending it in for a expensive repair.

Ripped off again on Ebay!!!! Bummer

You can do a full reset. Turn off the power, then power up while holding down all three buttons. But with a 6 year old X50 you will probably be sending it in. Not a bad deal you will get a like new RD for, it was 80 bucks when I did mine a few years ago.

I have a 2005 8500 x50 that did the same thing, I think the S7 horms that these older units use are slightly better than the newer M4 that the new x50 black uses but the down side is that they fall out of tune a little more often. I had to send it in for repair about a month back. Its about $100 but trust me its worth it. When you get it back it will be fixed and tuned up and it's a whole different animal, Mine worked better on all bands than ever before. And they say it can take 2 weeks or so but mine was only out of the GFs car for about a week.

Where did you send it too? I did send an email to radar laser experst to see about sending it in for repair or getting another one off ebay.

BTW is there another Escort unit better than the 8500 i should look at getting???

Call up Escort directly. They will quote you a price, ask for CC payment and give you a RMA numbers as well as the shipping address.

There are newer and better radar detectors than the 8500x50. I am a big fan of the Escort Redline.

Thanks Yellow cab... I will check out the redline. I not really a speeder anymore just go thur a lot of little town that have dropped the speed limit 4 mile from town.

Lo3 Cal and other messages can be solved by owner. I just solve an Bel Vector 990 international, 14 years old. It's all about oxidation on several places on that board and horn.
The detector must be open and "cleaned"
