In some cases, yes. But if you're using VEIL and have your detector mounted low, close to the aiming point (license plate etc), then you have a chance that the officer won't get a reading on the first hit, allowing you some time to sloe down before the second shot.Originally Posted by robert
Also, sometimes a detector can alert to laser if a vehicle ahead is targeted. One idea here is to mount it higher, so it can "see" through other vehicle's windows etc. In the SML test, V1 was the only one to do this. However, I did see some detector tests on the speed channel where a BEL was able to do this as well.
