Question for your laser gurus out there: If your detector picks up a laser, isn't it already too late to slow down?

In some cases, yes. But if you're using VEIL and have your detector mounted low, close to the aiming point (license plate etc), then you have a chance that the officer won't get a reading on the first hit, allowing you some time to sloe down before the second shot.

Also, sometimes a detector can alert to laser if a vehicle ahead is targeted. One idea here is to mount it higher, so it can "see" through other vehicle's windows etc. In the SML test, V1 was the only one to do this. However, I did see some detector tests on the speed channel where a BEL was able to do this as well.

Pretty much unless you've got a good countermeasures.

It still is considered stealth. What we're talking about is stealth-countermeasures.

We've been playing that "cat-and-mouse" game [DoD] with our neer-peer competitors for a long time.

A51 has grown [allegedly] to double in size in the last 15 years for a reason.

Gotcha. I prefer the detector mounted high.... so guess my option is to apply VEIL and continue being alert.... or add a Blinder as well. Doubt I'd go that route, but VEIL is a reality.

If one does not want to spend a lot of money and they already have the V1 then Veil would make an awesome edition. Veil and V1, Veil and Blinder are like peanut butter and jelly. You cant have one without the other.
