    Default Ku Band

If this bands start to become widely used, will there be a way to update the X50 to detect the the new band and if so how would it be possible? Escort hasn't given any cables or anything to download new software. I'm just worried about Ku because there is a company that is starting to produce Ku radar guns.

Do a search on this topic and you will get all the information you need about Ku band.

In short: Don't worry about it in the US anytime soon.

Like Air said, I doubt it will ever happen here in the US. Bel released the new STI with no Ku detection, that should be some vote of confidence that they do not consider it a threat. It's old technology, a hard sell to jurisdictions panting over Ka and lidar .

Bel released the STi without Ku because they had to. Ask Professor Jim.

Long story short, if Ku ever crosses the pond, Escort will let you send your X50 in to have Ku activated (there's probably already some goofy button combination or hidden setting for it, since it's already programmed in).

The odds of Ku coming to America anytime soon, though, are near-nil.

Welcome to the board mayur. I wouldn't be too worried about ku band just yet. But always be ready for surprises. I normally keep ku band on my V1 turned off. About once a month I turn it on for a couple of days to check out where I can get a ku false from. I think satellite dishes are the ku false? Mk
