Default In dire need of advice!

    hello everyone!!
I'm cece. I live in NY, upstate not the city. The reason I joined this group is because I have some questions and I am hoping some of you can give me good advice. As I am not the most tech savy gal. I hope what I have to ask hasn't been asked before. It might sound like silly nonsense to all of you, who really seem to know your stuff. But this is all new territory for me.
Anyway. here is my problem. I have a neighbor who is a real psycho. This is no exaggeration. The woman is nuts!! She has been harassing me, my boyfriend, and my dog for the past year and then some. She has called the cops on us for the dog barking, she has yelled profanities at me. (which I did report to the police.) She does other weird and irratic behaviors as well.
She has survellience cameras on her house, pointed right at my home. They are trained on both entrances to my house, as well as my driveway, deck and backyard. I know that she is allowed to do this, and while I dont like it there isn't a thing I can do about it. I have mirror tinted my windows and doors so that she cant see in any longer.
I also know the nosy witch listens to my cordless phone conversations, via her scanner. I no longer talk about anything important on my cordless phone.

So my questions to you all are, is there a way to jam or block the frequencies of her cameras and scannner so I can have some darn privacy from her? These may sound like stupid questions, from an ametuer, but I am getting seriously desperate. This woman is causing me terrible anxiety and stress. I dont feel safe going out in my own yard. I would really appreciate any tips, advice ot tactics I can use to fight back against this woman.
By the way, the local police know all about her, she has a long long history of harassing her neighbors, long before we ever bought this house. They just can't catch her doing anything wrong because she listens to her scannner and knows they are coming. So she stops whatever she was doing wrong and pretends she isn't home when they come to her house, or she leaves her home before they get there.
Please please help me if you can!!!
    thank you so much!
    cece

You pose a good question but I don't know the answer. I'm not sure if she has the right to look at your backyard as I don't think that would be public like your front door is.

Also, do you have kids? If you do and they play in the backyard in the summer in shorts, that would make me very uncomfortable. I would report them for recording under age minors which I am sure is not legal.

Unfortunatly the cameras are most likely hard wired so there is no chance of jamming their signal.

Plant some NICE size privet bushes along your property line. Nothing anybody can do about you helping make the world a greener place one 10 ft high bush at a time along the edge of your property. Plug your cordless phones (or 6 on different frequencys and make sure the channels change constantly, scanners LOVE that) like an intercom and play Opera, rap, death metal, lullabies, an hour of feedback screeching, haloween screams and laughs, jungle tribe stuff, preists meditating, Richard Simmons excercise tapes and for kicks find EVERYBODY you know that snores and tape them also, don't forget the flatulation disease thing that you can't help, fire truck sirens, kidzbop cd, Barney the dinosaur sings "I LOVE YOU, YOU LOVE ME" and make it an endless loop tape. Your listening pleasure 24 hours a day brought to you by yours truly.

If you do have kids let them run naked once and then notify the cops on her child pornography habits. Go to the police station when you complain and tell them NO RADIOS just show up.

Find out the noise ordinance rules etc. and push them to the limit everyday but only aimed at her house. Use same endless loop tape as above. Disco ball and strobe lights that only reflect out the windows facing her house!

What are the local laws on illegal surveilance and eavesdropping vs. security. Point out the fact that you saw her carrying weapons and think she might be building a personal arsenal. You've seen many shading looking people entering and exiting the house at odd hours like a drug or prostitution operation.

I'd hate this for the safety of others (being a fireman) but we have had to show up at more houses at ODD hours because a neighbor reported thick black smoke coming from the chimney, grey smoke (turned out to be dryer vent). Just looking out for her safety as a good neighbor!

Don't forget to shop at all the same stores she does at the same hours and buy many of the same things. Your not following her, just strange coincidence you guys have the same habits and likes. Play your Barney tape while shopping from Ipod earbuds too loud.

    C'mon get creative!

Oh Yeah and ALWAYS be pleasant about it! It is on camera/tape you know.

    Welcome to radardetector.net...

To keep your phone conversations private just upgrade your cordless phones to 5.4GHZ or 6.0GHZ.

As per the cameras just put up a privacy fence, or some large trees like someone else suggested. I'm no property lawyer but I have a hard time believing that it would be legal for a neighbor to point a camera at your window or front door. You have a right to your own privacy, and this is violating it.

If you have a HMO then see if they can't do something about it.

If you are for real, and not fcking with us I can come up with a million different legal ways to make this womans life a living hell.

    Welcome to RD.net!

Like the others said plant some nice big bushes, put up a privacy fence etc. She can't complain what you do on YOUR property. Also as far as the scanner and cordless phones go like stated above get a newer phone 5.8Ghz etc. as long as it's above 2.4Ghz and also try looking for a DECT phone which is same price as other cordless phones but is digital and uses a security algorithm.

Most current cordless phones can't be monitored. Do some research on your phone. If it is spread spectrum (even if only in the 900Mhz range) it can't be monitored. Not all 900mhz phones are spread spectrum, but many are.

It's no excuse for being "a psycho", but barking dogs are very annoying to people without dogs.
