Anyway, with all of the thousands of 9500i and 9500ix RDs sold, I think that its just sheer coincidence that at the moment we happen to have two forum members who may have defective 9500ix units.
Docsjd, have you tried doing a factory reset for your 9500ix? Momentary power spikes/drops can cause the stored firmware settings to get corrupted. Doing the factory reset forces the 9500ix to load the factory default settings from a separate and non-corruptible area of its memory. If that doesn't work, and if it won't acquire a GPS lock either outdoors or inside a top floor room of your house, then you should send it in. Lastly, where did you purchase your 9500ix? Was it purchased either direct from Escort or from one of their authorized dealers?
