    Talking Greetings

I just purchased a Escort 8500 X50 on e-bay (refurbished). I have two older units both Radio Shacks one is a 22-1682 and the other is a 22-1686. Both state that they have VG-2 Guard which foils detector finding devices. I have NOT seen much chatter about these detectors on the net. Were they or are they any good or are they too old to be useful. I just installed the 8500 X50 yesterday so can't comment much about it just yet.

I wonder if anyone has any experience with the Radio Shack units? Apparently they did not meet FCC certification and I got them at Radio Shack on the cheap about 5 years ago.

VG-2 hasn't been used anywhere for years, that I know of. Lame detector manufacturers still use it as a selling point because it sounds so impressive to people who don't know anything about them.

Currently, a device called the Spectre has taken it's place, and there is only one [non-remote] detector that defeats it, and that is the BEL STi.

Neither of them are an issue unless you're in VA or ON, or driving a commercial vehicle.
