Thread: Hello!

    Default Hello!

I have an Escort 8500 X50 (blue) and possibly by tomorrow I am looking to purchase a Valentine 1. I'm looking to see if there are other tips for for driving the highways that I have not already picked up in over 30 years of driving. I live in the Pittsburgh area, the city of champions.

The performance difference is going to be noticeable, but not huge. The X50 is a quality detector. The biggest difference is going to be the situational awareness and improved I/O performance you get with the V1.

Getting used to the arrows, and understanding what they are telling you takes just a little time. It's hard to live without them after that.

Isn't PA the state with the weird radar and laser laws, where only the staties can use it? That's gotta be nice!

Thanks for the info on the V1.

PA does not have laser and yes, only the state can use radar.

Welcome to the forum. V1 is a great radar detector for highway driving. My advice to you is don't rely on your RD against police laser. By the time your RD picks up the signal, the officer will already have your speed. So use rabbits or get a laser jammer

PA does not have have laser so that is good, but I will have to check the one thread that shows which states do have laser. What is a recommended laser jammer? I always like to have a front door when I'm driving. Always looking for those brake lights to come on.

Check the FAQ at the top of the Laser Jammer section of the forum.

I think PA may well be the only state without laser. I can't think of any others. In most states it's more of a local thing than a state thing though.

When you get a good jammer setup you start wanting laser over radar, i wish every cop used laser and burned their radar.
