Long time escort 8500 user....

I just found these forums and wanted to post up here and say that I guess I got a good one, my Escort 8500 has been giving me 8+ years of faithful service, maybe more, seems like forever.

Its sat in the baking sun of my cars for years, I rarely remove it. It has been hard wired on my 3 motorcycles, exposed to the elements (not rain of course), even down drag strips and on race tracks to 150mph+, in 4x4's off road, all the while never missing a beat.

A dozen or more different phone cords has been mutilated in the making of the mounts, thanks for non-propriety.

This detector has alerted to thousands of radar guns, and has paid for itself 100x over.

I just wanted to post up and let escort know in some way that I appreciate the unit greatly, and I'll probably be replacing it with a 9500 series real soon.

Definitely an underrated advantage!

You're probably not going to be that impressed with a 9500 over what you have. Sensitivity is in the same range. 9500 is slower to react. Unless you have a horrendous problem with false alerts on your normal daily route, there probably is not a lot of benefit to you switching. I'd just send the 8500 in for a tune-up.
