Default New V1 Owner From Saskatchewan!

Just received my new V1 which i directly ordered from VR.

    Shipped Date: August 25
    Software Version: 3.872

The detector will be going in a Pontiac G8.

Before receiving my detector i roamed the forum looking for information, etc. now that i have my V1 i decided to join in the fun I also drive 5 - 6,000 K (3500~m)
    a month.

I have a Sony HDR-SR11 video camera mounted in my car so maybe i will post some videos when i get them.

One difference i noticed between USA and Canada is that the USA has alot more police presence on highways than we do in central Canada.

Anyway might be going on a trip today even so will be interesting to find out what alot of the SK cops use.

Welcome aboard. Congrats on the V1 purchase. It will serve you well. Besides radar, do you see laser enforcement used? If so you may need to research a jammer too.

Thanks, so far i haven't used my V1 yet, i just installed it this morning. I'm planning on hardwiring it to the OnStar mirror but don't have the time this weekend.

So here's a few pics of my install, coming from a unhardwired GPS i don't have any qualms about the powercord dangling.

To be honest, I do not like where you put your V1. It is in the middle of the windshield which means everyone (thieves, LEOs, etc.) can see it. I suggest you mount it higher to the left of your RVM.

    I tend to agree
The world sees you differently if 'it' knows you are using a detector. And it's all negative. Let your awareness be yours alone.

I guess your driving stops at the eastern border of your province!

If you dare ever getting to damn liberal Toronto, get in touch with me first!

Enjoy your new toy and always drive safely!

Chris, in the epicenter of damn liberal narcissism

@Leos, although im a tall person so maybe passenger side would be better. The only problem with having the RD high up is it won't have a direct line of sight out the rear view mirror.

The car is kept in a garage and is really only an errand car so max 1hour out of my sight or i will take it down from prying eyes. Until i get it hardwired even out of sight ppl will see the cord so they know GPS or a RD.

Yeah, i drive in circles i'll give you a shout anytime i'm through Toronto.

Went for a 200K jaunt today to drop someone off and was extremely impressed with the RD's X-band range. The RD picked up a flashing construction sign about 1.5-2K out with 2 bends in the road and it never lost the signal. This RD will be nice for SK's widely open and flat terrain.

In town it performed just as well, city has red light cameras on almost every downtown traffic light (K band) and it picked them up from 3+ blocks away easily, even with heavy traffic.

On thing of note is i passed 2 Leos on the highway and the V1 was silent, now i have no idea what guns they run here. It looks like they have their guns setup near the bottom of left pillar on the drivers side windshield and the gun has what looks like white plastic on the front

Anyway i also passed 1 Leo in town and again the V1 was silent so i'm assuming it's: I/O, they have none (noy probable since their RCMP? and on the open highway), or they have regular and just have it switched off.

Not all the leo cars are equipped with radar. if they are then they usually switch it off and drive. if its on then trust me you will know it. I have the 3.872 as well. The V1 will serve you well.

I meant that the power of your V1 STOPS at the border with Manitoba and farther east
