welcome from myself as well, even though I'm a newbie here. Questions will be coming for sure to a former LEO. First thing that comes to mind is the local counties doing this for the influx of cash or are they truly interested in saving lives? Out here on the west coast, the freeways were designed for my larger, slower cars yet the speed limit was 70 back in the old days. Obviously the freeways can handle much higher speeds yet the speed limit is less. I understand the increase in the traffic flows and the need to slow down. I see people commentiing here and other forums where an officer is writing up people for doing 5 or 10 over and so on all the time yet out here, posted is 65 for the most part and there are very few actually driving that speed. Most all are doing 70-75. So, safety or cash? Yes, lots of people out there who need and deserve a ticket badly. Thanks for your service while you were serving.

In fact yes they do Kawasaki. Here are just some of the areas that still use x band radar: Ohio,Indiana,New Jersey,North Carolina,Mississippi, Louisiana, Oregon, Northern Michigan, Northern Ontario, most certain other Canadian provinces to the North, cities in IL include Freeport IL, Orangeville IL, Stickney IL, Crestwood IL, Wheaton IL, Aurora IL (have yet to confirm this, but very possible), other areas on the Western side of IL, Southwestern Wisconsin, I have heard in various areas of Nebraska, most likely some areas of Montana, and any other areas I haven't mentioned. Anyone else that can add to this list?

I live in the western part of NC and can tell you that in this area of the state I have not seen any x-band radar in at least 3 years. The last time I saw x-band, it was mounted on the trunk of and old NC HWP car in a construction zone. This was on I-40 in McDowell County. It's rare to see k-band in NC HWP cars as about 99% have moved to Ka- band. Just my 2 cents worth.

I ran across X band in NC on my way to Cherokee 2 years ago.

I also ran across X band in SC heading to Myrtle Beach.

Someone recently posted a video of X band in North Carolina. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Found it, but the video is private. Here is the thread that talks about it though.

Here is the video, which bradthemad was nice enough to make temporarily public.

I saw it consistently (but not often) for ~5 years until I moved about a 1.5 years ago. All the way from Charlotte to Wilmington. I could have sworn I got hit by NCHP once about 2 years ago but decided it must have been another cop that I didn't see because I don't believe they were still using X band, but who knows.
