Default Hi Everyone! New member from CT!

Name's Rik and I just wanted to say "Hi all", and introduce myself.

Also looking to get some info on radar use in CT, MA & VT; as these are where I usually drive. Also some NY.

I'm on my 3rd Bel right now (985), but the audio just died, so I'm in the market for a new one. Given the area I drive in, I think K, Ka and laser are my only concerns and I don't think I need to worry about photo radar - right? I'm considering the RX65 or v995 as I'm in the $200 price range, and thinking these are probably my best bets.

I don't think I've ever been without a radar detector for more than a month since I've been 16, so I'm looking to get the most out of my new one as possible.

Looking forward to pickin everyone's brain...

Welcome to the forum. I recommend the V995 or the Whistler Pro 78SE as the best choice in your price range. Also, you need to be worried about police laser. A radar detector cannot protect you from it. It only notifies you that you have been HIT with laser; by that time, the officer will already have your speed before you can slow down.

Agreed. I can't count how many belscort users I've convinced to switch over and eventually become zombies. I've recruited over 100 V1 zombies so far

BTW OP, I changed my recommendation in my first post. Check it out when you can.

Thanks for the welcome all! I'll definitely be contributing to the radar/laser by town list.

I know about laser - believe me - I know (all too well).... I go through Bloomfield on my way to work and they run laser speed traps at least twice a month. Same thing with the Staties on this Northern CT stretch of 91 from Htfd to Spgfld - almost exclusively Laser or I/O.

Jammer's not in the budget right now - neither is a $400+ RD. I know you get what you pay for, but low- mid 2's is it for now since I spent all my money on my boat this summer, and now snowmobile season's right around the corner. So those are my two 100+mph travel modes for now (yes, the boat really does do 100mph+ on GPS) - getting to the point though where I'm going to need to start carrying an RD on those too.

Got another year to go before I'm ready for the CTS-V

Since having moved here to AZ from CT, after living there for some 30+ years , untill you leave the northeast/new england you have no appreciation for what little there was in the terms of speed enforcement there.
Here in AZ there are nearly as many photo-radar posts as there are cactus. The ONLY decent thing they did here was to warn you with signs posted 1/4 mile and 300 feet out from the "paparrazi".
