    The V1 is a good choice and what I use, I'd do some reading in the Laser Jammers - Radar Detector Jammer Forum section, so you'll have better odds with the frequent laser encounters.

    V1 is a good choice. Escort Redline would also be another.

    You say basic model - is there more than one mode? Are RDs legal in Ontario Canada?
    Only 1 model of V1. VR only makes one detector and it' the V1. You can add concealed displays and other accessories if you like, but for me it's just the V1.
