    Arrow Hello from europe

    Hi guys,

I've just ordered a valentine one from the US, and I found youre forum while googling about radar detector and all the stuff.

Here in Europe, all this is deeply illegal. According to the country, you loose youre license, without the possibility to pass it again for a couple of years - You got a Fu**** big ticket (thousands of euros) and, can go to jail.

So just one rule: DO NOT BE BUSTED !

Owning a valentine one and, later, a M27 - Is a thing - But having a good (= discreet, very discreet) installation is surviving.

Thats why I have to check out how to install an ON/OFF switch for the valentine one and the M27 (electronic newbie inside). And make the valentine invisible. Hope you guys can help me.

    See u on the forum.

Man, the V1 is an awesome detector, but if I was up against all that, I would probably go with a remote, like a Bel STi-R or something similar.

X2 But since its too late, the V1 is still a good buy. I would hardwire it up and install a kill switch along , just incase. Anytime u get pulled over, make sure to snatch the RD and hide it somewhere. Use the search bar on top, i remember seeing some discussions on installing a kill switch.

    Hi guys

Thank you for youre messages !

I have to be honest, the main reason I didnt bought the BEL STI is his price - 900€ in Europe (1'300$), so I haven't really included it in my researches. Does the STI has an "Euro Mode" like the valentine ? I mean, if I buy it in the US, can I configure it that he works in Europe ? For example the jammer doesnt have this function, so I'll have to buy the M27 directly in Europe to get the right CPU. With a "Christmas promotion" I'll get it at 350€ with delivery instead of 420€ - But 350€ are still 500 box.

The valentine is sold, for the cheapest 500€ (720 box) in Europe, with the taxes and all the fees, I'll should get mine for 500 box, 350€, so I can still sell it, make a little benefit and buy the BEL STI.

Is he as good as the valentine ?

Thank you for the kill switch, I'll check this out - The best would be one switch for the jammer and de RD.

For the valentine, I just ordered this (copy/past in adress bar): dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16974 - He's quite big, and on the sides has complementary space, with a little hole, it should fit not so bad on the valentine. Ordering in a US shop is always a big mess for me, I'll have to pay UPS ground, then 8.5$ to shipito.com, then about 30 or 40 box for delivery fee, and then taxes... At DX (the website I ordered the sun visor holder), delivery is free, and I have no taxes cause the value isnt high enough

    Just two questions:

Can I buy the bel STI-r in the US and configure it for Europe ?

Is he as good, or even better than the V1 ?

thank you for youre help !

If I were up against the laws you are I'd definitely go with the bel STI-r. What you'd miss by not having the V1 would be more than made up for by the safety of the bel STI-r. And yes, it will give you enough alerts.

I find the STi-R and v1 to be almost identical in performance.

If it was illegal here like you say it is there, I too would only think about the STi-R, STi-R Plus or 9500ci. Stealth is the key where you are.
Valentine One (3.858 Ice Cream Truck, 3.812 in Vette)
4 Head LI (On Vette) (7.11 CPU Regular heads front, HP Heads on the rear)
    9500ci (On Vette)

LI Quad (On Ice Cream Truck)

LI Dual (On SRX, 7.06 CPU)

ProLaser II, ProLaser III, Stalker LZ-1, LTI Marksman & Laser Atlanta "R" (looking for an Ultralyte LRB)

    2008 Corvette Z-51 Coupe

    Escort 9500 ix (Cadillac SRX)

The 9500ci is really expensive... Much more than a M27 and a STI-r together.

If the STI-Plus has a decent price, I'll take it.

You mentioned configuration for Europe. I feel this Euro-configuration stuff is overblown. There's only four bands of radar, X, K, Ku, Ka. The STi-R does not detect Ku band, but I don't think it is used much and it's doubtful that they use it in your coutry, whatever that is.
