Welcome to the forum. Where exactly in Houston are you located?
Spring Branch, one mile north of Memorial Shopping Mall on I-10. I manage to get down to the Stafford/Sugarland area with some frequency. Shucks....I get to most of the area around Houston a good bit. I go skydiving down at Rosharon a couple of times a month except when the weather is not good for jumping.
Check out these two threads for info on HPD and other local PDs:

Also, we have a Houston Jammer Group. Pm Won Hunglo if you want to get your setup tested.
welcome to the forum... glad to see more fellas from Htown joining.
welcome to the board.
Thanks to everyone for the very welcoming salutations everyone is casting my way. I truly appreciate it. This must be the friendliest forum on the internet.
A few observations & opinions about the Houston area: There are lots of small kingdoms around here. Every police group seems to be obsessed with collecting as much cash as possible from the citizens passing through their jurisdiction. HPD has the biggest kingdom so they have the most "collectors" out and about. It's hard to say which speed measuring device the officers generally prefer but I have the "feeling" that the balance has already tipped over to the hand-held laser gun.
When I bought the first 9500ix, it was because the RLCs were just starting to snag folks who made a right turn on red without coming to a full and complete stop and sitting there for a few seconds.......then make the turn. I have a habit of rolling slowly up to the corner, look in all directions and make the turn without coming to a full stop. I knew that this habit could become expensive if I didn't know where the RLCs were so I bought two of the 9500s, one for me and one for the wife.
I have never doubted that an indication of having just been tagged by a laser means that I just got a "fast driving award" and I may as well pull it over. I didn't know that real-life laser jammers even existed until I saw the ZR4 on the Escort web site so I ordered two of those also. I have since decided that jammers are not a perfect cure-all with regard to the lasers.
My driving is almost exclusively around the Houston metro area. That's a pretty big area. I turned X band detection off on the 9500s. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me. Veil is on order.....it shipped today.......should be here sometime this week
That's enough jawboning for now.............maybe more later.
