Default Hey Noobie saying hi (9500CI vs RX65 help)

Hey I just registered today so I'm pretty new here. I have a few questions if anyone is willing to answer. It would help alot.

I been running the Beltronics RX65 for about a year now and everything has been great. No speeding ticket yet. I have it hardwired to my power mirror and mounted above the mirror.

I want to try something new and was looking at the 9500CI. What is everyones opinion on this. I want the function of a nice radar while being stealthy. I was thinking of selling my RX65 for a 9500ci. Should I?

Also where can I hide the GPS antenna if I decide to get it? My interior is Tan and it would look too weird to have a black antenna sitting on my dash or something.

The 9500ci will blow the RX65 out of the water but the laser shifters that come with it are near worthless. In a sense you're buying one of the best RD and one of the worst laser jammers. STi-R is your other option. Same antenna as 9500ci but with no GPS or laser shifters and its only about 500 if you can find one.

Look where he puts the antenna here:
    Red.

Yeah thanks for the vid. I was thinking about putting it there but I wanted to see if there were any other options before I put it there. Like I mention before my dash and interior is all Tan so it might look weird with the black antenna there. I'm all for integration and stealth so yeah. I like to make everything look like it came with my car.

Welcome aboard. Take a look around at the info here before you make your decision. The 9500ci is regarded as an excellent radar detector a definite step up from your RX65. There are many pluses to the upgrade you are proposing. The general concern, is that the laser shifter that comes as a package is not highly regarded as an effective countermeasure.

Would I be able to use Laser Jammer instead of the shifter or how would i go about doing that? also is it true the 9500Ci doesn't get rear radar?

Anyone know how well the 9500Ci hold up to quick triggers?

First off, a shifter is a jammer, just not a very good one. Secondly, there are many of us here that have a 9500ci and the much better performing Laser Interceptors installed on the same car, myself included.

This is false. The 9500ci does not have a radar antenna that points backwards, but it still picks up radar that originates from the rear of the vehicle extremely well, with its forward facing antenna.

Poorly. This is the 9500ci's most glaring weakness. Luckily for us, Q/T is very rare.

I'd look for the Sti R on sale buy a good jammer and a garmin 765 and you will have an improved CI The money will be about the same.

thanks for the response. alright I thought I would get no rear radar but thanks for the info. If I were to go about getting this and a LI. Would it replace the Laser Shifter on the CI or would I have to find another mounting place for this as well?

Is the 9500Ci or STI-R better? Pricing isn't a problem here so I just want the best. Also I like the blue display better from the CI more than the STI-R

Yeah I been reading alot on the forum and I probably pick up the 9500ci for casual city driving but also a V1 for quick trigger on longer trips. My city is small and I know it pretty well. I have a Beltronic RX65 and it rarely goes off cause cops usually aren't around when I'm driving

I have them both mounted. I only use the LIs, to avoid any potential cross-talk issues, but it is nice to have the ZR4s installed, just in case my LIs take a dump. I keep the ZR4s in receive-only mode, which gives me the direction of the laser attack.

They are both the same performance wise, but the GPS functions of the 9500ci set it apart from the STi-R.

Quite a few of us around here run both the 9500ci and the V1 together, to cover all the bases and for redundancy's sake.
