    Bad. Get a new radar detector. Cobras are garbage.

    It did detect a cop coming up from behind with a spectre4 alarm. Why is it bad? Please be as honest as possible. I would appreciate it.

    First off, the alert you got was telling you the cop knew you had a radar detector. "Spectre" is a RDD (radar detector detector) and Cobras are the easiest RDs for the Spectre to pick up.

    Second, the detection range of Cobra RDs is horrible. They don't give you enough time to slow down.

    Third, Cobra RDs are notorious for emitting Ka radar so other RD users around you may receive a Ka false because of your RD.

    There are other non-expense RDs that work better than the Cobra such as the Whistler SE RDs and the refurb Escort 8500.

    I was thinking about buying the whistler, but went with the cobra. I do mostly country driving in northern wisconsin. There either coming at me fast or they are sitting and i know where they sit.

    I guess what I will do is get that valentine and take the cobra back. Please, tell me about the valentine. Also, I was thinking about getting a scanner but since their digital the guy at Radio Shack told me they are a hassle to program. Does anybody have any suggestgions for a police scanner. I heard they don't give out the frequencies anymore? Thanks for your time.

    Thanks for the welcome radarrob. I like to leadfoot to on these straightaway highways and long curves.
