    Default Greetings from S.C.

Have been reviewing this site for days and decided to join. Need advice on what RD is best for me...Seems like every other site has their own "best" RD to endorse. I wanted advice form the people that have the true experience. Those that have actually paid their own hard earned dollars for the product...Glad to be here...

Welcome I am new also but I did my research prior to coming on here. The 1st things to know in the RD search is:

    >>>How much do u want to spend?
    >>>Do u want windshield mount or remote install
    >>>Do u need complete stealth (only on the Bel STI range)

    Next then u get into

    >>>Do u need to transfer the unit from one car to another
    >>>Do u want to jam signals?
    >>>Do u do a lot of night driving?

    ... ... u get the idea.

Next check out the top searches u can get out of Google.

    U will reveal:

    Bel STI Driver/Remote
    Escort/Passport 9500ix/ic
    Valentine V1

Pick ur poison/flavor based on results and ur needs.

    Rab*****aser,

    First Welcome to the forum.
Next would be to consider softwalkers questions on the what, why and how of the detector you would consider.

Detectors which I have and use:

The Beltronics V995 and RX65 both are great detectors with good range. Besides good sensitivity, I like the expert mode which show the frequency of any alert or multiple alerts. This can be especially useful for KA encounters. I have 33.8, 34.7 and 35.5 all used in my area. I noticed a drop off in K band usage for a while now its starting to increase again and I not sure why. The one weak spot of the Beltronics is reaction time to instant on or I/O. Another thing the RX65 has is the threat display that shows a break down of multiple threats and which band they are associated with.

I currently have a Whistler Pro78SE and XTR695. Of the 2 I would say the Whistler Pro 78SE is the best. It has the intense blue display, LSID and RSID for
KA band (LSID laser PPS rate, and RSID identifies which encounter 33.8, 34.7 35.5 plus others in the KA band). In straight forward facing encounters the Whistlers are real close the the Bels on Ka band encounters. That being said, the Whistler does false a fair amount on KA band. It could be the way Whistler processes the signals.

I recently picked a Redline from their webiste and traded in a older Whistler as part of their trade in incentive. I haven't encountered any of the inital bugs first encountered with the early Redline. This detector is Red Hot, excellent sensitivity on K band and Ka band. Like the Bels, the Escort has a frequency display called spec mode and a tech display showing the number of threats on each band. One time I was at a intersection I had 4 X band and 2 K band alerts indicated all door openers I sure.

The Whistlers can be had for less than 200.00, The Bels listed above from 250 to 340.00. The Redline 499.00.

I hope this helps, sort of a long winded post. One thing I have noticed once you get bit by the detector bug, just one won't do.
