Not much to tell. I am a student. Live in the triad in North Carolina, soon to be Wilmington. I have a 2006 V6(no one give me crap) Mustang. Bought a Whistler XTR140 just to mess around with it. Realized I like driving fast, my luck is running out, and the XTR (though it saved me once) is just not enough "insurance". Bought a V1 a couple weeks ago. I got the save of my life today. I have gotten really into this whole radar detector thing now.


Details of the save:

Going down a hill, moderate traffic. V1 screams KA in front, so I slow down, cop running some constant on is driving the other way (nothing too serious). V1 arrows do their job and say he is now behind me. I keep on driving get to the bottom of the hill and begin going around the bend that is at the bottom. V1 does the additional bogey beeps on me and now shows another KA bogey in front of me. I go around the bend and come up over the very slight hill and there is a cop running instant on. I hung around for about 30 mins (nothing better to do lol) and both these cops (other one was working with him) knew their stuff. Instant on waiting for only cars that were obviously going fast.

Anyway, against a speed trap like this, I believe I would have been toasted and buttered with my old detector. So happy with my V1.

Welcome to the forum, V1 is a perfect detector for NC highways because the state troopers there are sneaky bastards and know their ****. NC sucks. They use X, K, Ka, Vascar, Pacing, and Lidar on bridges to tag you in the front and behind. You need to look into jammers, and read the news section. I just posted an article about how the Highway Patrol is doing another ticketing operation in NC starting on Monday til April 4th. NC is the worst state on speeding tickets, and the worst state to have a license from. Read up on the forums, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I have definitely been looking at jammer's. Haven't decided what to buy yet. I have never run into laser. I mainly drive through Pittsboro (hick town), and have never met anything but KA. Got any more region specific band info?

Welcome Aboard and good information on the V1 save. The LEOs in Washington State are getting a lot sneakier than they use to be. I'm seeing a lot more tagging from behind there use to be.

How would you know if you did?

Well...

1. I would probably see the cop?

2. The Whistler had a "laser alert" don't trust it but yeah..

3. The V1 has laser alert.
