I have mine mounted above the wipers. I have a speed sign "K band" here, tested mounted high and low there was no difference in detection range. Yes , X band is active here in NC. Maggie Valley uses Ka and K bands.

Yes, in normal testing it shouldn be a huge difference. But mounting it high near the RVM, might give you the faint chance of picking up a laser scatter. And plus it puts it away from here robbers can see it and prevents the v1 from getting directly impacted by the sun.
