Hello,
I just joined the forum after researching my Whistler Radar detector.
Looks like I will be taking a closer look into the Valentine 1 as well as the Escort 9500ix in the next few days and make a decision on ordering one.

IF you choose the V1 it's a great RD, Welcome to our forum
Welcome aboard! Do you mostly speed on rural interstates or metro freeways?

Pro97 Police Scanner

Welcome to the forum, lots of information here to help with your decision.
I have both the V1 and 9500ix and they are close in detection range with a slight edge on KA band to the V1. Basically the decision will come down to if you don't like falses and want cutting edge technology/features, or the most basic, well rounded and useful product available.
Wow! This has got the be one of the most active welcome forums threads I have ever participated in! Thank you so much for this many replies right from the start!
I drive a MK5 R32.
I am located in Montgomery, AL. There isn't much info on the radar used in this area but my travels will take me to Birmingham and Huntsville as well as Dothan, Auburn and Mobile in this state. There will also be travel to ATL on occasion and of course the yearly beach trips down to Florida. Mostly the Panhandle area (Pensacola to Panama City stretch).
I keep leaning towards the V1 with a hardwire install as I have some local friends who have suggested it to me. However, I have not seen it in person yet nor played with it. My old school Whistler (model number something 600) is useless since it lost its mount and just lays on the front dash when I do use it. It did save me ONCE in the last 3 weeks on a trip down to Dothan, AL. LEO just sat on the side of the road and I wasn't paying much attention...but the Whistler went off like a car alarm so I slammed the breaks and got away with it.![]()
I sounds to me like you do a lot of highway driving. I would go with the V1 then.
