New member here. Just had a Bel RX45 installed in my 2005 Toyota Avalon. After researching here (should have done that first), I think i may have made a mistake. Going on a long trip soon, we'll see how she works.

Welcome to the forum...
As for the RD choice: You did make a big mistake, on the order of a few-hundred dollars.
-BUT-
Lets get one thing out of the way first:
There is nothing wrong with the RX-45 as far as detection goes...it will serve you well.
The only thing bad: You wasted hundreds of dollars.
Because basically you bought an (~$300) Escort 8500 X50... except you cannot transport your unit vehicle to vehicle... so whatever the cost in the end was to you (unit+install)... it will perform the same as ~$300 unit AND you cannot transport it vehicle to vehicle... but you live you learn!
At $500 you could have bought an Escort Redline which would be 'far' superior to the RX-45 in radar detection, be spectre-immune, you could transport it vehicle to vehicle... AND cost less.
Ouch... you live, you learn.
In reality though... the RX-45 will perform well (don't think you got some radar-detection slouch)... its just a hard $$$ lesson you learned.
you made a huge mistake just as the rx 45 is a huge mistake
Well assuming you wanted a stealth clean install the RX45 is probably the best choice alternative. Otherwise you would have to spend $1600 on a 9500ci.
The RX45 is a good performer and will serve you well if your priority is a stealth clean install (nothing in cabin), and cost effective with adequate radar detection capabilities.
If money was my only mistake, I can live with that.
But, I have already ordered a Blinder M27 package to replace the Bel jammers.

Yeah the RX45 Will perform just like an X50/RX65 so they are no slouch on radar detection...
You just wasted hundreds upon hundred of dollars to get the same detection, and stagnate your install in one car... if you can live with that: No big deal at all.
