New guy seeking advice

I have been running radar detecors for the past 10 years, I started out with Whistlers. I have had several Whistlers and like them. About a year and a half ago I upgraded to a Beltronics GX65 when Circuit-City went out of business. I absolutly love the GX but am forced to take it down at work (Mil. Base) and when I drive through Virgina. I am now looking for a Stealth unit preferably the STI-R+ if I can find one stateside. I have found a new STI-R locally but like the GPS feature of my GX. I have looked at the 9500ci and it looks good but I think I would be seen because of the rear shifter over my licensce plate on a white car. The Redline does appeal to me because of price but I would need one of the visor organizer covers and it wouldnt have GPS.

For the 9500ci Do you really think anyone one notice the rear shifter? Do you think they would know what it was if they did notice? You could alwys skip that part of the intall and leave out the rear shifter. The 9500ci shifters are marginal anyway.

Well I notice them on other cars. I saw one just this morning. It is pretty obvious because it is a big plastic piece right above the license plate with a plastic reddish tint window.

Maybe I could add on a bubble to make it look like a backup camera

Is the STI-R+ even available? I see some users post that they have one but some I have contacted some vendors that say mid to late June. Does anyone know the beltronics official word?

So I have found a new in box STI-R for $800, (I think it should be a little less maybe the $600 to $700 range). Which would be the better option from someone in the know, the STI-R or a new 9500ci for $1599. I do like the GPS feature of my current detector and the laser shifters appear to have extra laser receivers which could be a benefit but the STI-R is half the price of the CI.....I am so conflicted, I don't know what I should do.

The STi-R is a great value unit and worth the investment if you also need/want better different jammers. Basically building the best, peace by peace.

However the 9500ci is also a grate unit especially with the GPS features, and its still currently in production. The jammers aren't the best out there but can help with some cars/scenarios.

Its really if you want to peace together the best possible unit, or simplify and get a well packaged unit that does it all.
