Welcome to the forum and I would be very cautious about buying a used V1.

    Thank you both!

Why should I be cautious about buying a used V1?

Because it could be stolen or it might not work. If you buy one from VR it will come with a warranty and you can buy a used one from VR. It will probably be one that has been returned.

Yeah I'm more worried about it not working properly... the guy who's selling it to me has the box and the accessories and everything. Even offered to give me the S/N but when I asked for it, he didnt give it lol...
He then canceled the sale saying that he wants to send it in to V1 to trade it in because "they offered him $189 for a new version". It sounded good... then two weeks later (last night), I emailed him asking if he sent it in. He said no, and that it would be easier if he just sold it instead.

We a had long talk about his V1 and how he switched over to 9500i and how his 9500 is way better, etc etc and the V1 falses too much, and is too sensitive, etc etc. He even told me that I should forget about the V1 and just go the 9500 route. Then I stupidly told him that I plan on upgrading it by calling V1 etc... and thats where he got the idea to trade it in rather than sell it. In the end, it seems he's too lazy to trade it in and likes his passport better.

Hopefully this is a good thing for me

iif he offered the S/N then you should get it, then get a hold of someone at Valentine and check with them to make sure it hasn't been reported. You can never be to careful when buying a used detector
