Both the Redline & V1 are very fine RD's but might drive you berserk in the city. You might want to try both out to see which ones best determine your needs.

My redline is not too bad, I turn x band off and I know where the signs at that give k band.

For those that have driven on the 15 between Vegas and LA, were most of the LIDAR shots from the overpasses? I don't plan on getting a laser countermeasure and could always pay more attention to the overpasses.
I've driven that LA to Vegas stretch probably 100 times. You never know where CHP will be shooting laser from. I got a ticket from CHP shooting laser from the backside of an overpass at the back of cars. There was no possible way to spot that. CHP moto units shooting laser can hide in plain sight because they're so hard to spot. There's no real pattern. If you speed regularly in SoCal without laser countermeasures, you will eventually get owned by CHP laser. Here are a few CHP laser encounters I've had here in SoCal:

Well guys, it was a tough decision, but I went with the Redline. From what I have been reading, they are both great in the open highways where I will need it most. I hate to say it, but it came down to aesthetics and in the way they are mounted. I will be using a Blendmount (on an Acura RDX), and the mount/clip is a little smaller (doesn't stand out as much) for the Bel/Escorts and the Redline is also a little smaller than the V1. I hope I will not be disappointed in the unit. Next up, after viewing the above videos, looks like I will need some sort of laser countermeasure.

Redline is a great choice. Where the signal is coming from is nice to know, but in the end utterly meaningless. Alert ... slow down ... avoid a ticket. The Redline will serve you well and looks like it was actually manufactured in the 21st century.

It is, but the Blendmount is a horrible choice. Total fail in ever conceivable way. Honestly, I would consider immediately returning it.

The problem with the Redline is that the controls are top mounted. If you mount your detector high, where it should be, you can't see those controls. It was a really stupid move on Escort's part. Sure, it looks cool, but it is an ergonomic fail that is realised only once you start using it.
