Question Jim from Mesa, AZ - I Need A Good LIDAR Defense

    Hi Everyone,

I stumbled upon this site while researching for info on how to best defend myself against a LIDAR ticket.

The fact is I had my cruise control set for 69 in a 65 zone on. The officer told me that LIDAR pegged me 81 at a distance of 824'. I told told him that that was impossible because I had set my speed control and 69 and also noted my speed as I passed him as he and is fellow officer's car was highly visible. He said that he would ticket me for 80 as it was in a lower price bracket.

I'm at a loss to explain why his LIDAR clocked me at this speed. It was the middle of the day with clear blue sky's. The traffic density was probably about 10 cars per mile so it would be hard for me to say the officer got a reading of another vehicle.

Anyway I have a court date set the 23rd of this month and any real world winning defense sharing is much appreciated. Plus if anyone has any technical information that I can take to court to defend myself would be much appreciate.

I guess the bottom line is I would feel more justified if I was at least pulled over for going 4 mile over the limit than what the Anamolus LIDAR reading indicates.

    Thanks For Listening :-)
    Jim

Unfortunately, you met a dishonest leo. Not even the best jammer will save you from one of those but a video camera may.

I'd challenge it - there's some info on this site about fighting your ticket. In your case it would need to be challenging the LEOS equipment. Not sure if they have to store/record the event on their unit with timestamp, etc. If they don't then it's a crap shoot.

Either way - jammers are the way to go.

Welcome to the club. ... Looks like you joined for the same reason I did, and many others - who just recently got tagged. (I've been ticket free ever since... knock on wood)

What a crock, to get a ticket for only 4MPH > the PSL and then get told you were doing 81MPH that's total BS. I got my 1st ticket for doing 70 in a 55 which is what led me to buying my 1st RD back in the day.
This site has allot of great info on RD's and most things related.

i JUST installed the Passport Escort 9500ci. im in phoenix. interesting about the lazer. when RR did his tested the 9500ci during a 16 day stint in AZ he said he didnt get one lazer hit. on what stretch of highway approximately did you get busted may i ask?

ive only had the 9500ci for a couple days but plan to post more about it when (1) ive had more time to test it and (2) i figure out how to use the thing!

also, if you look at RR's lazer testing, clearly the Laser Interceptor brand performed the best. they have a few models. im probably going to get one of those and install it along side my 9500ci to get more laser protection. good luck!

Did you try checking how accurate your speedometer is? They are usually showing as much as 5-10% faster than your actual speed on stock tires and wheels. You could borrow a friend's GPS if you don't have one--that would get you information on how accurate your speedo is and maybe help in court, too.
