Wise choice for an RD used in the big city, take the time to get to know your RD, it took me a while to understand it, but when I did finally understood the ix, it saved me so many times by distance of miles or just enough time to slow down, don't get your hopes up and expect it to work miracles, because that was my big mistake when it came to my ix when I first bought it and I wanted it to alert for miles away, there is a lot to learn when it come to I/O, C/O,Q/T, the bands the LEO's use as well is another site of information needed, the ix does really good on Ka band, and alright on K band, but that is all from my personal experiences, I can't speak for the rest, but I can only speak from what I've experienced, plenty of knowledge found on this thread.
I also recommend a CB if you plan on getting on the Highway, CB is about a $100 investment and no RD can alert farther than a CB.
