No. I'd stick with the refurb; it comes with a 6 month warranty and many members here believe the S7 platform in the refurb 8500 is better than the M4 platform in the X50.

The 8500 x50 is a great detector but I have never used the S7 antenna and I keep reading good things about it

unfortunately radarbusters.com does not offer the 8500 refurb, and no we do not have an ebay site

On your budget, you could either get an Escort 8500,Bel 955, or Whistler Pro 78. Good luck on your purchase.

You don't want to buy a used V1. It may be busted so you may have to pay even more money to fix or it may not have the latest software and you'll have to pay over $100 to get it upgraded. Better to save up and buy new.

Used V1's aren't that bad, it's just a good idea to send it in for a tuneup to make sure it is up to par.
