Hi I'm from new jersey Im in college majoring in mechanical engineering and I know a lot about cars... mainly wiring i wired speakers radios subs mainly stereos but I have done off roading lights and fog lights and all that good stuff I'm a little fuzzy when it comes to radar detectors though I was wondering if someone could help me out and help me pick a good radar detector for around 200 dollars i need something that has good range and is very reliable... thanks for the help in advance

It isn't the best but it's the best bang for your buck. Being in NJ, you may need some expensive equipment.

No. I'd stick with the refurb; it comes with a 6 month warranty and many members here believe the S7 platform in the refurb 8500 is better than the M4 platform in the X50.
