Thanks everyone, was out of town for the weekend but plan on hardwiring this week. Consensus is to mount it high, thanks to all corroborating this, this is what I'm going to end up doing. I ran the serial and it is the most current version of the V1...and AirMoore, it was only 2 stops...a week apart...

Sup buddy! The InTaRwEbZ are a small world after all...glad your detector ended up selling...I alluded that I had a "killer" deal on a V1...can't beat free!

I was gonna hardwire last night but UPS didn't leave the package since no one was their to sign...I'll hopefully get it in (no homo) tonight! On the other hand, claybar is an excellent way to clean up gorilla glue residue (what I'm fairly certain the box was sealed with)
