    Default Orange County

    Hi all,

Long time member (lurker) here currently residing in Orange County, CA. Hoping to meet other enthusiasts on here and contribute to the forums. Formerly from PA, so I've dealt with VASCAR, ENRADD, and PSP radar my whole life, so it's quite a change up to be dealing with CHP.

Sorry, out of curiosity, why did you move from PA to California, the TAXATION capital of America? And if it's about weather, why not Texas or Florida, pretty much warm weather all year long AND no state income tax at all, right?

Haha I'll take the heat for not posting in 3 years. At the time I started, I only had an Escort Passport 8500 x50 so I didn't feel "qualified" enough to provide input and as such didn't encounter many radar encounters traveling on PA turnpike (PSP jurisdiction). I've slowly added to my collection; now I have a Valentine 1, Laser Interceptor duals, CB radio, and Waze. Hopefully by now I've accumulated enough reference points and experience to share back to the community.

I've moved to CA from PA because of the weather and after I graduated college it was either NYC or LA. I've always wanted to live in California anyways. State income tax does not bother me since I LLC'd and trade stocks. I still have an address in PA (and license), so "technically" I'm still a resident and pay PA state income tax

I was running an Escort S2 when I've joined the forum in 2005 and then started commenting on different threads, my first account listed in my signature.
It's not about what you own and using on your car, IMO it's about interacting/socializing with other forum members, or at least that was the atmosphere back then.
You live in California now, LJs are ILLEGAL in entire state, what's the penalty/charge/fine IF you get caught by ANY California LEO?

You are right about the socializing aspect, which is why I'm trying to make up for lost time now. And yes, I'm well aware of the LJs being illegal in CA. I plan to be quick enough to slow down to PSL and then JTK.

    Thanks mate!

I think when I joined all I was running was my X50 blue, which I still have. Looks like you have come a long way with your gear.

First, California law regarding Laser Jammers is very ambiguous at best. To date, all of us in the Laser Countermeasures Community including scores with 2 sensors in the rear of their vehicles, have yet to have heard of anyone in Cali, in 10+ years, ever stopped or questioned let alone ticketed for any type or number of LCMs. Perhaps that is a benefit of the law's ambiguity. Read the Statute's wording. Law Enforcement is wary of enforcing Laws that are unclear (what does "4 Devices" mean? 4 Jammer Heads or 4 "Laser Interceptors"? 4 "Devices" with 2 heads each (for a total of 8 Sensors), 3 Devices (for a total of 12 Sensors), 4 Devices (for a total of 16 sensors)? and that they do not understand or receive guidance from prosecutors or the legislature. Confusing isn't it?

    Fines

For having less then 4 jamming devices installed in the vehicle

    Base Fine $25
    State PA- $30
    County PA-$21
    DNA PA- $3
    Court PA- 19
    Surcharge- $5
    Total Bill- $99

For possessing more then 4 devices

    Base Fine $200
    State PA- $200
    County PA-$140
    DNA PA- $20
    Court PA- 100
    Surcharge- $40
    Total Bill- $700
