    Default Hi from New Zealand

    Hi all.

I've got an old Bel 990 that has started faulting, and I found this site through some google searching. Looks like a great resource!
If anyone can help me with tips on how to disassemble the case, that would be awesome. I've undone the external screws, but the plastic body is still held together with clips, which I can't see or find to pop open. It feels kind of fragile so I don't want to force anything and break the clips.

    Cheers!

Welcome! This is a stupid question, but if you get inside of the RD, what are you looking for? That is from my electronic fried brain. Another question? Being on the bottom of the earth and up-side-down, do ya'll have more headaches? Another question? Where is Old Zealand? Sorry, it is 3 am and I'm just kidding with you!......I know, I'm banned! LOL

I found on another website, a guy had gotten the exact same obscure fault code as me. Item was not serviceable by Bel, so out of curiousity he took the unit apart (with a LOT of drama around opening the case). Found it quite grimey inside, so cleaned up all the PCB contacts and surfaces, and hey presto, unit works 100% with no more fault code.

So that's what I'm trying to do.

Yeah definitely. I've spent a couple of hours here and googling some pretty obscure sites. Some people have managed to get them open, have posted comments about how much of a ball-ache the case is to get open - but didn't leave any comments about how they did it!

And hey - I'm not in Oz!!!
