Hi, I'm pretty much only here to get a replacement speaker for my Whistler Pro-78SE

As the title says, I found this forum by looking for a replacement speaker for the 78-SE as this seems to be a common problem. I'm no stranger to soldering, so if that is required I can do it. My old Cobra radar detector had the same issue.

I get a lot of false positives with this thing, and it ultimately doesn't catch cops until it's too late. Thinkin I might want an Escort.

I have Whistler 78 SE myself and had the same problem both with the speaker and the false positives. I did send my unit back to Whistler and they repaired the unit at no charge. I tend to agree with you that the SE does get a lot of false positives, which is why I purchased the newest Uniden, the DFR7. I was amazed at how quiet it was...it didn't get triggered by the traffic monitoring false alarms that my Whistler 78SE did on I-90 between Erie PA and Cleveland OH...not even once. My Whistler would trigger every other mile. I was impressed with a 3+ mile alert one day too on KA....not sure what frequency it was...I didn't have my reading glass to make it out on the screen.

I still use my Whistler in my other car..I live in a very small down with very few false alarms. However, on any log trip, I'm taking my DFR7.
