Hello all,

I used to drive a Fiat Abarth and purchased a Laser Interceptor Quad and a Beltronics STiR to install. Unfortunately a friend totaled the Fiat before I could perform the install.

I still have the jammer / radar detector in their boxes and it's so sad!

I'm moving to California soon and laser jammers are illegal there so I'll probably sell the Laser Interceptor and hopefully that sale will fund the installation for the Beltronics on the Audi.

Not to sound self-serving, but you may want to consider Veil as a passive CM since jammers are illegal to use where you drive. We've have some very good feedback from users of Veil versus the CHP including a gentleman that has been saved at least six times during his commutes from northern CA to southern.

If you are comfortable with using an ONTRACK lasershield, I'd recommend that to plus a good detector. Watch the STiR, it is beginning to miss some newer lasers, but I don't believe the CHP is using those particular models, but you may want to consider an updated detector. If you consider going remote again, the Escort Max Ci or Max Ci 360 are looking to be killer products. Otherwise other good RDs for the interior would also make good candidates.

Thanks! I've looked up a few posts on the Veil product and reviews are very mixed. Not sure I want to risk messing up my headlamps unless I was positive it would be an effective CM.

I understand. Notice the reviews from real-users versus from jammer mfr-aligned "testers" who actually don't use the product. To begin with, other than their bias, they don't even test how the equipment is used in the field. But yes, mileage is going to vary based upon vehicle and color. That's just the nature of stealth. G5 has been long updated to handle new headlight plastic formulations, btw.

In terms of radar, being an owner of the STiR myself, it has basically become unusable on K-band given the amount of K-band CAS systems and the STiR's lack of even TSR filtering. The newer remotes should be killers. At the moment I drive with K-band disabled and use another detector for K-band. Good luck.
