    Default LI Interceptor Installation question/Advice

    Hello everyone,

I appreciate everyone's support on this forum. I've been somewhat of a stealth reader for some time gathering as much information as I could.

I just purchased my Laser Interceptor with 4 heads.

I drive a Mini cooper. As such the 4 head unit shoud be enough to completely protect me and several of the cars driving next to me (hehehe).

My question is where is the ideal place to mount the 4 heads. I'm going to go with 2 in front and two in back. Below are some pictures of the front of the car and back of the car.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the heads will fit in the grills and the rear doesn't have a grill. Is under the car an option? Any other suggestions?

As you can see in the pics my car was recently hit by a tractor trailer. As such, both bumpers are about to be replaced - hence an ideal time to install the LI.

    Thanks for yor help!
    Doug

Hmm.. tough one. I'm not sure how much room you have between those pieces of chrome.

A good reference on where to place the senors can be found at a topic I created: http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=30981

Would you consider cutting and installing right inside the bumper or grille?

As for the rear I would install above the pate and inside the bumper below the plate dead centre.

I think cutting is your only viable option, unless you dont mind big ugly jammer heads sticking out of your bumpers.

Gonna be a tough install have fun.

Especially in a state like Virginia where the possession of such a device is illegal.

One of the mods should edit his post to remove that photo ASAP

For the front, as with noTe and nooru, I'd consider cutting the grill (or purchasing an aftermarket grill, replacement front grill, or "replica" - thus cheaper - grill), specifically for the for the purpose of an optimized installation.

For the rear, I'd be tempted to just go with the right and left sides of the rear plate recess "overhang" (under the chrome trim tab, immediately above the rear plate) - make sure that you won't obscure the rear plate illumination lights so you don't tip-off enforcers that something's back there, or you'll need to seek alternatives for plate illumination (i.e. LED-illuminated plate mounting bolts/nuts, etc.).

Bad enough to post a picture of your car if you live in VA, let alone a license plate.
