Cliff's official declaration, coming from the LI mother team, dated back to May 22 of this year ( ref: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...w-usa-rep.html ).

If you've bought units from anyone other than Cliff, at that time, then you've gone off-map.

Also, his North American website has been up and functioning for several months now.....

As a true enthusiast and hobbyist, I would have imagined that you'd have obtained information from the proper sources....and am highly surprised that you did not know.

    ---

    Regarding the CPU exchange.

As an automotive enthusiast, I'm well accustomed to the idea of "core cost."

You make a high-dollar-amount but fully refundable deposit, pay a little for the part, and then, after you've installed the new component, returned the old to the store for a refund of the deposit.

I see this the same way, and honestly, I don't see why you're complaining.

    It's truly not so out-of-the-ordinary.

Also, if you're objecting to the $150 refundable deposit, Cliff has been more than willing to make exceptions in this case.

Both noTe and I have asked him, publicly as well as privately, whether we can simply send in our old box, first, and avoid the need to submit the deposit, as we're both tight on cash.

Cliff has readily agreed, again both publicly and privately, to such.

    ----

I think you're getting all worked up over nothing.........

None of this is new. Other old-hand hobbyists like you - and even newcomers to our community - have known about this (and if you're not signed up at the LI Forums, please do so, as this information is clearly declared, there) for not days, but weeks.

It simply looks like you were out-of-the-loop and perhaps have been fed bad information, and are currently suffering some sort of knee-jerk reaction.

Don't worry, Cliff/LI is not going to let you down like that other Forum Vendor you've been having such a hard time with.

Isn't the deposit taken on a credit card anyway, so technically no money out of pocket.

Question Re: TruSpeed Enabled LIs have Arrived!

I didn't disagree with you allen? Then again. Is it nessacary to comment back to every thread and say i agree? Although, i do disagree in some points, a core yes. ALthough when you core out parts on your car allen, they are broken! Your box when you send it in, is functional... Ahhh big differnece my friend. They are making money off of you and I. Does technology cost money yes. Is the upgrade a personal, and optional thing, yes. I learned that as of yesterday, after being absent from this board for some time while working hard in the studio. Forgive me bro, that I don't have time to respond to every thread in a time sensitive manner, I am busy just as you, and alot of others on this board i'm sure. We love our electonics. Although, there are alot of other things in life we must deal with on a daily basis. As to the credit card thing, allen you had it exactly right, not everyone has a CC nor wants to even own one. It's asking for trouble from someone like myself, because i have no self control and would most likely call Laser Tech tomarrow and have a TruSpeed on the way. As for my opinion of their little core Idea heres why i'm saying what i'm saying.

    Heres what LI is doing.

They are taking your 50 dollars claiming thats shipping included, when really who's paying for that intial shipment to croatia? YOU!

so really is it even 50 bucks? NO.

It's more like atleast 70 i mean we are talking airmail here. Since the package has to be sent overseas.

Then they charge you shipping both ways ontop of the box? Well first off I already paid shipping one way, do you really think i'm that foolish?

Unless ofcourse cliff plans to send me a prepaid shipment label then in that case well that ends that problem of mine.

Ok so after your 70 Dollar investment.

They recieve your C-box. Ship you out a new one, keep your old one, crack your old box open, alter it, flash it whatever they need to do to update. Then the next guy that sent in gets your Refurb. To them possibly at nill cost. Getting my picture yet?

SO really? Is it worth the 50 dollars? Hmm begining to wonder now I bet..?

Hence why I asked the question.

    Its a valid question.

Do they have technology thats worth money YES i'm not denying that, will I send in YES, but don't think your fooling me on the TRUE value of what your doing. Because buddy thats not happening. I'm smarter than that, i've owned my own buisness, my family has for years. I know that, that is how that stuff works. Why it saves them money. Makes them alot of money, and they are in buisness to do buisness. They are not out to look out for your, or mines financal interests here.

They then charge you 50 dollars send you back a peice of refurb they simply reflashed which took all of 2 min you and me both know that from reflashing our Navalerts. So, was it really even worth that much labor? Really, do you make 50 bucks every two minutes allen? I wish you did, and I wish I did too. Sure would be nice. Although, thats pretty pricey. I think a date with a prostitute is cheaper. I mean?

NO HARM ment to the people on this board that work for LI, or LI. They do have a GREAT product! I'm just saying, don't think your pulling one over alpine's head here. I know what this stuff costs i've been around it now long enough to know.

Did you know that it only costs like 50 dollars to make one blinder head? Now the markup on that roughly 150 dollars a head! OUCH!

Once again as you said. Technology coms at a cost Yes. Although just the other day even you said allen. I think thats a little pricey considering my update for my LPP was only 25 dollars. Which to me is in the ballpark of reasonable. UNLESS they are sending me a brand new C-box. Then yes 50 is understandable. If it's not brand new well then i'm sorry but thats unfair buisness.

Although it may be unfair. We don't really have alot of say. Either you run em, and be protected, or buy another brand, or you just give up the hobby. Simple as that. They know they got you right where it hurts man.

I personally don't plan to give up just yet. Although, if things keep getting outta hand and going wild with the price meter. I may be forced to give up a hobby I love so dearly. Unfortunatly, unlike you allen I don't have unlimited credit card funds.

Once again, Tsi your a great Guy, LI is doing some great things for this industry, I just wish I could know if that is whats happening, or if LI is being legitiment here. I'd like to think they are ligit, and beleive them just as you. Anybody would like to do that. Although, me and you allen both know in this industry there is alot of shady stuff out there that goes down. Especially once you've been into it and around the people involved in it long enough.

So Tsi, or allen which ever you prefer my sir. I agree technology does come at a cost, the 50 well, thats somewhat reasonable yes. For as you said a MAJOR upgrade. Although, i've even had other members of this board him and haw when i said it was going to cost me atleast 100 bucks to do the upgrade, as I have Two controll boxes.

I guess, it's one of those things, where you just sit back. Give LI a call and find out for yourself which it is. Then get back to the board and let them know. I will be sending mine in for this update. When I get them back if they are used. I will be letting you guys know.

As for me complaining, I wouldn't call it that. Just making sure it is what they say it is allen and nothing more. I guess it's like your sweet ride allen, if you went to the automotive, and bought a part brand new, would it upset you if you got home to install your new turbo, and found out it was nicked and possibly they sold you a used part?

Question Re: TruSpeed Enabled LIs have Arrived!

Anybody know the Max effective on the TruSPeed for range?

Also anybody here know the Pulse Rate for the TruSpeed yet? Has LTI mixed it up like i was wondering and changed that pulse rate on the new gun to try and maybe through us off?

Also last but not least, does anyone here know the Nano meters of this gun? What is the wave length of light at 905~ 904~ or did they change it to 936~ to work around a detectors filters?
