That's currently an IP/security issue..... Apparently, they haven't quite worked out how to keep their secrets safe enough, to yet enable the promised end-user capable firmware reflash.

So far, they're still the same as AL/LPP - requiring the physical control-box to be exchanged, in order to effect firmware upgrade.

In terms of the control software, LI has taken the leap beyond any other jammer maker so far. Their software is truly unique, and the first of its kind, and enables the end-user a much easier interface than the "programming flashes" we were used to with the LPP and AL, and their clones.

As to including a cable, that's a good question - and it would perhaps be something for the LI team to consider as their next physical upgrade of the unit contents. Certainly, the Cheetah GPS Mirror ships with such an item.... does anyone know if the 9500ix/ci comes with?

One issue with the LI, though, in that context, that would be problematic would be exactly what to include. Although the interface on the box is serial, the current problem is that most modern laptops are USB, and as-evident on the LI forums, there's quite a bit of confusion in terms of independent hobbyists trying to find compatible link wiring. Further complicating this issue is that the LI is truly a "global" device. Whereas the Escort is intended for Stateside usage, and thus certain assumptions can be made in terms of level of technological requirement, this would be harder to implement for the LI team.

As to this forum, I am rarely on here anymore, as I've been busy with video, and editing far beyond my wildest dreams .
^ Good to hear that you're doing well!

no 50 dollars is not much to ask. I agree thats resonable. I do plan to upgrade to 7.05, although that is just a personal thing now I guess.
I agree, I think that the personal side of this equation does matter. For me, I'd prefer that the price-point be lower - my LPP replacements, for the 100 PPS UL resolution, cost only shipping (about $25).... but then again, this is for a new threat, not remedial steps, so I think increased cost is justified.... But I agree, this is personal - no real right or wrong.

Just want to make sure i'm protected against this TruSpeed, as Laser Tech Inc. is Michigans Contracted Lidar marketer, and they use LI's in my area.
    Me too.

As you know, Ohio is among those states, and given how much our Troopers and also local enforcement likes LIDAR....well, you can guess.

As for how long TruSpeed has been out, I think you have been mislead my friend. I found Truspeed atleast 6 months ago, and created a post about it on a different forum, which I no longer attend. It is not a new gun by any means. It has been out for atleast a half of a year now. Infact I was one of the first to spot this new lidar while watching Laser Tech like a hawk, as I knew they had to be up to something.
Oh, no, no, you misunderstood....my intent was not to say that the TruSpeed is an "unknown" new threat - yes, indeed, your posts on RR.net as well as others' posts here on RD.net did clue us in to the over-the-horizon presence of the TruSpeed quite a while ago, indeed.

Dude, you *need* to join the LI Forums! I can't believe you're not there, yet!

The cost is $50, outright. There is a security deposit, fully refundable, of $150, held in collateral until your "core" trade-in box reaches Cliff.

If the truspeed is been out for so long why have there been only 2 admitted sightings. and knowledge of only 2 states who have taken possession of the gun.
^ Like alpine said, we were well-informed of this threat quite a while ago.

His post specifically on the TruSpeed appeared in May of this year, on RR.net is just one example. StlouisX50, our own news-hound here, cited that my own state of Ohio had contracted for the TruSpeed as early as this past February. The infamous noory, as early as NOVEMBER of LAST YEAR, as well as, again StlouisX50, one month EARLIER THAN THAT, disclosed to us that this item was over-the-horizon.

And there's more than just two states. Currently, we know of FL, CT, OH, MI, and CA as being among those with initial contracts.

So, while there's only been two real-world enforcement sightings by our fellow community members, as well as it being true that the earliest shipments of the TruSpeed likely did not go out to their contracted agencies until, more than likely, just within the last 8 weeks or so, it is *far* from true to think that we didn't "know" that this was an upcoming item.

It's only fair to say that the jammer manufacturers have had only about 8 weeks (much less than that, actually, but that's a conservative estimate) to properly formulate a response - i.e. to obtain the physical TruSpeed device and to engineer a proper defeat.

^ Please do keep us well-informed!

Hats off to you TSI-WRX For all your hard work on this board, and your deeply educated studies into the LI, thankyou for your service to this board. It is much appriciated, also say hi to baby anna for me.
^ Don't thank me. Your service to this community, in many different aspects, well-predates my own becoming active here. If there should be any thanks, it should go well to you.

It's just that life took you in a different direction, and you returned here unknowing, and kinda had a shock. That can happen to anyone.

    Take care, bro.

As for people who have 7.0.5, I could not even guess. -- Oh well. Cliff posted right before I did. So, there you go.

    LI service is now 'great.'
Now that you say it, yea, I think I remember him saying that.

I really wish I could afford one. Maybe if I would have saved my money on the little things here and there, I could have bought one by now.

I would just go ahead an install it. The generic algo gives enough protection, especially center mass. When the newest update comes out, all you have to switch is the C-box, which, depending on where you have it, should take a few minutes, at most.

I'm hoping to run into one of those scumwads again on Friday morning. I'll be leaving work mid-morning so I'm sure they'll be out.

PMoth: I can let you know when I get mine installed. My brother lives in CT and I'm up there often. I get targeted EVERY time I'm up there! They love my car, out of state tags and sports car, I've actually seen them suddenly stop clocking one car to quickly get a bead on me. Game on now!

If you had bought a Blinder, you'd still be in the same boat, albeit for less money, but still sending in for an upgrade. That's not an LI problem. That's just the price to play the game. As long as new guns keep coming out, we have to keep up, and it's going to cost money.
