Default For those who have and use LI in NE Ohio

Hello everyone. This is my very first post on this forum, ! As you can probably tell from the title, I live in NE Ohio. I came on this forum because I am looking for advice in purchasing a laser jammer. I have it mainly decided between the Blinder extreme or LI at this point I think. I have heard a lot of people say good things about the LI, since they have now seemed to get their quality control and customer service on good track from what I can tell. I wanted to ask a favor; if there is anyone who lives in NE Ohio that has and uses a LI, and perhaps has some laser guns, would I be able to meet up with you and test/see the LI? Also, if anyone has the new J15 or J16 version of the blinder extreme, would you mind if I did this as well? I realize this is a big favor, especially since no one knows me here, but I would very much appreciate it if I can do this. It's just that I would feel a lot better about my purchase knowing that I have had the chance to see and test it out. If this is not a problem for anyone nearby, please pm me. Thanks in advance!

LI is the best there is that is recognized to the point now where people are no longer interested in doing tests with LIs because they're so boring.

noTe, are you selling your LI seriously?

Thanks guys for your posts and all. I'd still be interested in meeting up with someone to try it out though if that is not a problem. By the way, if I do go with the LI, would anyone have a recommendation for a professional installer in the NE Ohio area, and if so, do you know their cost?

weights and I are in-communication. And FWIW, I agree with noTe. In Ohio - especially in NE-Ohio, it's LI.

    ----

weights - I'll respond to your PM on RR.net in a little bit.

No secrets, guys. Just that we do plan to meet-up, locally, that's all.

I just drove through Ohio during the wee hours of Thursday morning and have come to the conclusion that Ohio state police presence is f%$@ing crazy. On the other hand, I can see why some of you have said you don't see laser used at night. I experienced three or so constant-on ka hits in the entire state. No laser. Indiana isn't much better. I was hoping for some laser action on my 900+ mile commute to the US Redbull MotoGP here in Indi. Nothing doing. I'll start my own thread about my journey when I return home from vacation.

I live in Akron; I have had a Laser Pro Park (LPP) dual head for years, and it has never failed to jam any of the guns used by the OHP or local police. Unfortunately the OHP barely uses laser any more - in my experience, instant-on x band is there new tactic.

LaserProPark USA has been great to me - they recently tested the heads, gave me new seals/lenses, mounting hardware, and a new control box with updated software, all for free - and my LPP is almost 3 years old (I purchased it used years ago). They have great customer support.

I've never had a LI, although I hear they are also a good company, and the two products are basically the same hardware - any difference in test results come down to software programming. To see the latest jammer test results (if you haven't already) go to here:

I'd go with whichever one you can get the best deal on. As for installers, I've always done my own; my only reccomendation is to avoid Best Buy.

Thanks for the info on X-band IO. I wasn't sure which states were using X-band so before my voyage, I enabled it.

Also, LI has major hardware differences from the LPP. Performance on both are still great though.

^ Yep, I/O and C/O X-band - check out any of the recent posts containing the keyword "Ohio," and you'll see this referenced.

I think the practice started-up about a year and a half ago or so (give and take a few months), and is particularly a favorite of Ohio Highway Patrol in the northern half of the state, in conjunction with aerial VASCAR.

In the southern half, though, LIDAR is still readily used by OHP.

Local (highway) enforcement is LIDAR heavy, in terms of the Metro-Cleveland NE-Ohio suburbs.

But Ohio is weird like that - you can go thorugh the state, on some days, and it'll be an OHP enforcer and/or local enforcer, it seems, on every other mile marker. At other times, you can cruise through the entire state, literally without seeing ANY enforcement at all.
