Cliff is the man, no question about that. I'm in for the party too!!!

I wish every company provided customer service like Cliff. Makes it really easy to recommend him to someone because you know he's going to take care of them.

I keyed my microphone on the CB while checking SWR and I think it may have blown my LI speaker out b/c I lost LI output (internal and external) later in the day (couldn't here it on next start-up). It could have blown independently (I am going to check with installer on Monday on wiring).

So, needless to say, I was moderately frustrated on Friday night that my new LI was blown shortly after I drove it from installer. So I emailed Cliff with LI and gave my situation (said that I couldn't hear output from LI but I can see heads firing with digital camera). I asked him in the email what my options were.

He called me in 10 minutes on Friday night at 8 p.m. and offered to meet me halfway between my house and his (I live in Tampa, he lives somewhere north of here) with a new LI CPU that he would setup immediately for me. I don't know him well, but we met once at a CFL meet. He met me that night, we put the new CPU in, and I was good to go (although I'm leaving CB off for now).

So, here's a big thank you to the most responsive customer service I've had from any company or person.

It's great to finally have a great product, that has equally great customer service. I had a faulty head, and even though I didn't need it right away (still haven't had time to install it, and if you've seen my videos one head seems to work quite well ) within a day Cliff had a new one on the way.

Cudos to Cliff, makes me that much more confident in my purchase.

However, I was wondering if anyone figured out what was up with the output going tits up in the first place? I'm doing my reading and getting ready to do my install and want to use an external speaker as I want to mount my CPU box in the back of the car but want the audio in the front. I was looking at the manual and it states to use a 16-32 ohm speaker. That's an odd impedance for a speaker. I popped open the CPU box and it's speaker is an 8 ohm one and that's a little more "standard" impedance.

Has anyone mounted an external speaker and if so what kind?

It's not the output that goes out. The audio files are user modifiable. You can upload your own sounds to the LI to use, if you like. And when the LI is updated with new guns, etc... the new gun ID is easily added. The downside to having modifiable files is that they must therefore exist on a volatile memory. That means they are susceptible to things like power surges. In the cases that I am aware of, it was always something resulting in a power surge that fried the files. The jammer itself is unaffected. You just lose your voice alerts. It doesn't have anything to do with audio output or the speakers.

The LI is the only jammer with voice alerts and gun IDs, so the problem is specific to the LI. You can't scramble a piezoelectric buzzer with a power surge.

Ah-ha...I did not know that about the user modifiable audio files. That's a nice feature.

Me thinks I might add a diode circuit to prevent surges.
