Default Another Thumbs Up For LI

First let me say the customer service that Cliff provides is THE BEST! What other place typically e-mails you within 5 minutes no matter the day of the week or time of day (I didn't email in the middle of the night though). His service simply can't be beat. My system arrived very quickly as well with a tracking number provided as soon as it shipped.

The product performs just how I expected although I only tested it with one gun that another forum member was nice enough to come out and test my system with. Kpatz
tested my set up with his Pro Laser II. It performed flawlessly! ZERO punch through in multiple situations and aiming points from 1700 feet and closer, with and without a front plate displayed. The road had some slights curves and minor elevation changes as well. Hell it even sensed a REAR hit without rear heads somehow, must have picked up a reflection from a sign. The only punch through was at about 18 feet targeting my side mirror. So all in all I'm VERY satisfied and not worried about laser hits. This closed the gap that the ZR3 left (no longer on the car). Looks like the install and system is a winner. I'll have to pick up rear heads at some point.

I'll have install pictures in the near future as well.

HUGE thumbs up to LI and Cliff!

Sweet. Congrats on doing it right the first time. Too many of us go through one or two other set-ups before we finally admit we should have bought an LI in the first place. You're way ahead!

Glad you finally saw the light and came around to the LI side. Just be careful with the MA staties, I've seen your luck with them...

I did have a SRX first just because I already had it from another car. The LI works great, do not miss the SRX at all!

And from the man behind the gun... I couldn't get a reading on his Vette no matter how I aimed the gun. JTG everytime. Well, I did shoot his side mirror from a VERY close range as he was pulling up and got him at 18 feet, but that doesn't count as a real punchthrough. Unless a LEO wants to give him a ticket for speeding into a parking spot or something.

Shooting the backside was a piece of cake, of course, since he doesn't have any heads back there.

Kayrac was also there and we shot his '82 Camaro with no countermeasures, and he was pleasantly surprised that his car was fairly difficult to target even with a front plate. Low profile, black and no projector headlights makes for a stealthier car.

We also did some radar testing to see what kinds of distances a radar can get a speed reading on these low-profile cars. My K-band K-55 only showed a speed from a relatively close distance, and the V1 alerted well before the K-55 could get a speed. I tried I/O as well, but QT isn't feasible on this old radar unit as it takes about a second for it to display a speed. I wanted to try with my Stalker ATR but the corded handle was giving me issues and the gun wouldn't stay powered up.

So, if you're in a podunk town with ancient radar units, QT won't be a problem at all. Of course, nowadays everyone has modern digital radars that can do QT, so we'll have to retest after I fix my ATR.

I also learned a couple things in the process:

    1. Targeting cars with a PL2 at 1500+ feet is difficult, as it's hard to see that far through the HUD scope. The crosshair was so bright it would obscure the car, and if I dimmed it, then I couldn't read the speed display. It was getting dark too which made it harder.

    2. Holding the gun as steady as possible helps with getting quicker readings. Now I know why LEOs often use the edge of a door/window or the roof of the cruiser to steady the gun.

    3. My car is about as un-stealth as they get. 95blklsc was able to get a reading on my car almost instantly from 1500+ feet. I was never able to get a reading in less than a second or two on 95blklsc's Vette even with jammers off, or on kayrac's Camaro. But then I need more practice shooting cars with a laser.

    4. I need to consider a jammer. I've been teetering back and forth between the LI and the Blinder M27. Now that I've seen the LI in action I'm leaning in that direction again. But the M27 is cheaper.

    +1.

Even discounting performance, LI is still legendary - Cliff's level of C/S really totally re-set the benchmark for the entire industry.

BTW, I just repaired my Stalker ATR so I'm all set for the next time... well after I get an LI.

Let me know if you need help testing. I'd be happy to take a ride up and give you a hand. Thanks again for testing my set up. I'm still looking forward to my first LEO jam!

Yeah, I was going to ask you if you'd had any LEO encounters since you installed the LI.

Also, if you've had any falses from Infinitis etc.

Hopefully you won't soil yourself the first time you jam a LEO. And you can kill it in time to avoid a JTG. You did mount the switch in a convenient location, right?
