Default LI Quad - anyone nailed by Laser while using it?

Please forgive my newbiness. most of you guys are real experts at this radar and laser ticket avoidance game. I'm just diving into it and learning.

Been reading about laser jammers and was almost ready to get the ZR4 setup from escort but then I started reading about the others. If the absolute best Laser jammer setup in the "around $1000 class" is the LI Quad and it's really "significantly" more effective, then I'd just a s soon wait and get that...($1000(+/-) my absolute upper max)

Anyone here got a Laser ticket using the LI Quad setup?

Seems that no matter what jammer you have, punch through will occur at some point so if you gt hit with laser too close I suppose nothing works except cruise control set at the PSL.

(darn, wrong area.....can this be moved the the proper forum?) thx

You won't get punch through with a properly installed LI setup.

Depending on what you drive, a Dual may be sufficient for front protection. Go Quad if you need front & rear protection, or are driving something huge like a semi.

    +1

After setup, always test it to be sure. You can either find someone in your area, or rent a Lidar gun.

Yeah, LIs don't get punchthrough. LI SET-UPs get punchthrough. Proper installation is everything.

I laugh when they shoot the Vette, they have a better shot of getting a speed reading on the space shuttle in orbit than they do on my LI's!!

Alright guys LIs are awesome yes and if you install properly they will protect you 99% of the time buuuut flukes do happen. Remember the Maryland meet results? Stalker LZ1 got PT on RJ's car (sedan keep in mind) which had 4 HP LI heads on the front and 2 HP LI heads on the back.... there was nothing wrong with his setup.

Are Jammers designed to protect KEY AREAS like the headlights and the license plate only or do they protect the entire front or rear of the vehicle?

    Also, are they legal?

Check out the FAQ here for more info: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...-glossary.html

But in short, a properly installed jammer will protect the entire front (and/or rear) of the vehicle. LEOs typically aim for center mass, the front plate, or headlights, since these are the easiest spots to get a reading on.

As for if they're legal, that depends on where you live/drive. Some US states have banned them, but most haven't yet. Even in a state where they're illegal, as long as you promptly drop your speed and then shut off the jammer, the LEO will be none the wiser. Most LEOs have never even heard of or seen a laser jammer, and those that do think that (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) they don't work.
