    Default LI for a 2003 Audi A4?

    Guys,

I got tagged with another LIDAR ticket in GA (my annual speeding ticket).

Last year in August, I got one for doing 77mph on I-75 in a "construction zone" (read: a couple of cones by the road side, no actual construction and no workers) which was $996 to start, but I successfully argued it down to $300. This time, I got an 87 in a 70, which will be $500 thanks to GA's super-speeder law. I'm sick of it, so it's time to stealth my ride.

I had looked into the Blinder (BlinderGuy, I sent you a PM) but now I'm thinking LI might be a better option for my car. Searching some threads, other Audi drivers have had issues with the grill being attached to the hood as well as the absurdly large headlights. What sort of mounting options do I have for an LI? Would LI Dual be enough for an a4? How much could I expect to pay for install/testing?

Dang, man! It seems like every day now, someone posts something that makes me more and more scared to drive in GA! Heck, you could by a Quad HP for what one ticket and insurance increase can cost you there!

A Dual LI will cover your front end just fine. But seriously, you gotta spring for the Quad, because if you get hit from the rear without it, you just wasted your money, which is a real kick in the pants.

How many tickets and cost of each ticket does a person need before they buy counter measure?
To the OP, Get the LI-Quad and be done with front/rear protection.

    Hi Spector,

Sorry about the ticket. A properly installed, LI DUAL for the front or QUAD for the front and rear will provide more then adequate protection for your A4. See this install on an A8 (Grill is about the same as your A4).

and this install on an S6 for example:

and this is my recommended install on the rear:

No joke. My issue is that I get tagged every time I'm saving up for counter measures (or something). Georgia has a "super speeder" law which tacks $200 onto every ticket over 85mph and another $200 onto every 75mph if on a two-lane road. I was not on a two lane road, so my ticket is $300 + 200 for super speeder. Fortunately, my insurance doesn't mind my annual tickets. I'm going to try to talk them down to just 84 mph, which will be no points and no super speeder, so only about $250.

Can I get the dual and that add two heads later on to the rear? I'm really strapped for cash right now with this looming ticket...

Yes, you may add the additional Sensors at anytime in the future by simply installing the Sensors and plugging them into the 2 open Ports on the LI CPU.

Thanks! I notice that those heads are installed in the upper grill. Are the heads wireless? The issue with the Audi is that the upper grill is attached to the hood, so I'd be curious to know how that was run such that it could stay in the upper grill.

Also, what sort of fee could I expect to pay for installation and testing? I am not sure I can afford the LI quad just yet, but I am looking at the LI dual and V1 combo, which is $921 with forum discount). I need to figure out how much this will all cost me before pulling the trigger.

Finally, does the LI come with a kill switch so that I don't JTG? Jammers are legal in GA, but the last thing I need is some uppity cop pulling me over just because.

The LI is not Wireless. Properly installed, the Sensors should stay level but like one checks their tire pressure weekly, you should always make a routine of checking the Sensors for proper level especially after closing you hood.

Installation costs vary from installer to installer and depend on the complexity of the install as well as the technical prowess of the installer.

The LI comes with a main power switch so that once you have gotten your speed down to the PSL, you may shut the LI off and allow the LEO to acquire your speed. Once you have passed the threat, then turn the LI back on to be ready for your next encounter.

Thanks! It wasn't really the leveling, I was more concerned about allowing the hood to open without ripping all the connecting wires out, since everytime you open the hood, the sensors will move about 3-4 feet from the main unit.

I guess they just run the cable across the length of the hood and down around the hood struts into the engine bay and then through the firewall?

Can anyone recommend a quality installer around either Atlanta, Georgia or Orlando, Florida?
