Skubysnack, I think I know why you are asking about a single head. That brand is 100 percent junk. Also, even though a shop you may be in contact with in HI may only have two brands, I wouldn't let that be my main reason for buying junk. I'm sure Cliff can get an LI out there easily. The LI's voice tells you which gun you're getting shot with. The other guys only make a noise to let you know you're being show.

Sometimes 2 heads for the rear of a BMW light not be enough. Do NOT go with only one head, get two at least

A couple of guys out here in Hawaii have the ZR4. After doing some pretty extensive research, I decided to step it up to either the Blinder M47 or LI. After looking at all the nice Green JTG on a few reports, LI it was. I've check with two shops and none of them carry the LI. One endorses the Blinder and the other the ZR4. I never buy anything until I review it so no worries on me for fully believing the sales people. Asking questions on other forums, they said the power of the LI would be good enough. I recently found this forum, so decided to ask the question here.

Typically, a single rear mounted Sensor will not provide adequate protection for a vehicle with the rear IR reflectivity of your 5-Series. As you reside in Hawaii, where Laser in the only electronic type of speed enforcement found there and rear LIDAR shots are more common, you want the maximum amount of protection front and rear.

The LI CPU has a built in speaker which, when mounted in close proximity to the drivers seating position, will be loud enough to allow you to hear its voice alerts. If your install does not allow you to do so or you have a high ambient cockpit noise level, the LI does have a provision for a user provided external speaker such as the Escort amplified speaker or you may use any small mobile communications speaker such as those used for CB and Ham radio applications.

Thanks for the quick response...Yup, I did talk to one HPD and he did say he shoots the rear, but usually after hitting the front end. Yes, it's a gamble to go with one, but the officer did say he shoots the middle and rarely towards the rear lights, especially at that close of a distance on a follow-up shot.

I'm in the service, so I'll only be here for another year or so. CA is my home, so I'm sure two heads is my best option. Yea, I know a laser jammer is illegal in CA, but hey, I'm actually getting this for the parking sensor feature .

Install isn't the issue, it's more of costs of the entire unit. Cost of the M47 w/ 4 heads is nice compared to the LI, but at the sacrifice of performance. Is it good enough, I'm sure it it but.... I'm here unaccompanied due to the crappy housing market in CA, so I'm trying to get the best I can afford. Just thought many of the reviews indicated strong enough power to protect the rear, just not the optimal way to do it. 4 is best, 3 is better than two or none...

If you're on Oahu, I know that the LTI Ultralyte is heavy there. Be careful when talking to leos about this stuff, we don't want them to know too much. :;

Random question. Do you know what they use these cars for? I also know they use G35s and mustangs with the same light scheme.

Yup, I'm on Oahu. What's LTI Ultralyte? I didn't actively search for LEO. Guy is a friend of the shop owner I was looking at having install my jammer. We were looking for possible placement of the heads when he rolled up. That's when the installer started asking questions as to how he shoots cars with his laser. I didn't know he was LEO until after the fact. Since it's not illegal to have laser jammers here, I'm sure he knows the deal....

Regarding the vehicles you posted, HPD had a program where LEO can purchase a personal vehicle at no expense to the officer. Vehicle had to be from an approved list and would be used for both personal and law enforcement needs. I've seen regular, mom and pop type cars which could easily be out run patroling the streets. These vehicles are outfitted with lights, and everything else a patrol car would have.

Yes, HI has been doing the POV police car thing for decades. You'll see a pretty wide variety of vehicles used because of that.

I just re-read your post. I guess I misunderstood the first time. I'm a total newbie, so no, I don't know what he's looking at. I'm assuming he's going for dead center of the rear end. For my 5-series, that would be the license plate. Am I missing something?

Okay, that post was directed towards someone else but he has.... Since you asked, I google the username of every newcomer on here(to find leos) and I found you on another forum. I read your conversations and saw the two brands your installer carried. One of them is worthless, however, to be in compliance with the rules I can't tell you which one. You probably know which one I'm talking about though.

No worries. Not LEO, just another guy trying to make sure money spent is on the correct product. One of the guys out here showed me his jammer and didn't realize it was legal to have in Hawaii. I almost bought in, but decided to do more research and asking around. When I found the testing by Guys of Lidar, then I narrowed my choice. I'm still iffy on the top two, but leaning more towards the LI. It just cost alot and I want to protect the rear as well...Is the other one good enough, plus 2 rear protection heads comes with the standard package.
