Default Rear Mounting Location on Porsche 997?

I cant find a place to mount the rear LI units on my 997. I've seen some pictures of them mounted within 8" of each other right above the license plate but that doesnt seem very effective. I've also seen them mounted vertically on the sides of the rear license plate but I'm not sure that is safe.

    Any suggestions?

Optimum placement in green locations on the rear of a 997 or 996. US spec bumper suck for anything else.

Only place I have seen them mount is on the side on the license plate frame. A guy used some plastic cutting board material to build up the surface. This allowed him to get the heads even with the bumperetts.

I spoke with Cliff at LI and he said a vertical mount would require the high powered LI's which are just too expensive. I'm going to go with the 9500ci instead since it has a workable mount for the rear.

    NOOOOOOOOO!

The zr4 will provide you with little to no protection in the rear. We have tested this.

I would hate for you to make that mistake. The rear head on a 9500ci is worthless. It is more or less just a detection sensor. One standard power LI head has more jamming performance than all 3 ZR4/9500ci heads combined.
After 100 ft, getting a lock on the rear of a 911, where two standard LI sensors are mounted correctly horizontally above the plate, while aiming center of mass or "directly" at the tail lights becomes almost impossible. At 65 mphs, you will have covered ~90 ft in one second. Well, if you pass a Leo who is setup on an onramp or overpass, he would have to be able to initially aim at the outermost portion of your tail lamps and lock your speed within a second of you passing him at 65 mph. Does that not sound absurd? At 80 mph, you are covering ~117 per sec. The window of opportunity closes up very quickly.
It's far easier to lock a speed at close distances while initialy aiming at the perimeter of most vehicles. The footprint of the lidar gun's beam is extremely tiny at that point.

In your first post, you say that "the heads mounted 8" apart doesn't seem too effective." Well as long as they are level and aligned, they are very effective. You will lose some close range detection performance but that remaining performance will never be less than that of an optimally mounted 9500ci system or Blinder m27.

TIFWIW. Your money would be better spent on a LI quad and V1 combo.

On this particular vehicle, using an Ultralyte LRB and aiming anywhere within the green box resulted in JFG under 100 ft. After that, the LI was able to detect and jam everywhere on the vehicle.

OK. OK. You make a good point and I've further researched the 9500ci and I'm not liking what I'm reading. So back to the LI's... two LI's will not fit above the rear license plate without covering the license tag lights. One will fit fine (in between the two lights). Should I just get one high power LI and put it there?

FWIW... I'm going with the STI-R Plus RD.

To save money you could go with a LI dual up front and a LI HP dual in the rear.
