Default Just Installed my Laser Interceptor

I just bought and installed my Laser Interceptor, BMW Edition.

I've been using an Anti-Laser G8 since 2004 and thought it was time for an upgrade. I'm going to move the Anti-Laser G8 to my wife's car.

I ordered the unit at lunch time on Friday and it arrived in Canada on Tuesday (talk about fast shipping from the U.S. to Canada). Best part was that shipping was included in the cost.

I was at the installer's trying to make my install as stealth as possible without compromising the protection from the unit and I had some concerns about the sensor's being too recessed at the bottom of my kidney grills.

I e-mailed Cliff to ask for his opinion and he replied right away. (which was great because the installer was waiting for me to give him direction). We went back and forth for a bit and Cliff patiently answered all my questions and as a result, I ended up with an install that struck the perfect compromise.

I can't thank Cliff enough for his fast shipping and great customer service. A really nice and professional guy.

Now I hope I NEVER have to use my Laser Interceptor, but if I do, I know it'll save my ass!!!

Excellent choice. The AL-G8 won't jam many of the new laser guns that have been released lately. Make sure your wife understands that.

Yeah I know. She hardly ever speeds, but since I have it, it's better to install it on her car instead of leaving it sitting in a box doing nothing.

All I have to do is pay to install it on her car. Even if it saves her once, it'll pay off!

Do you have any pics of your installation?

Also, which BMW do you drive? I just ordered myself a set of Quads BMW Edition from Cliff and I can't wait to get them installed!

I'd love to see pics if you have them as well.

Ledorkii - have you received yours yet? I just ordered some as well, won't be here until next week. Going to install them on a 135i. Trying to decide if I should tackle the install myself or pay someone to do it. The estimates I'm getting so far are stupid high. I can't see this taking more than 4 hours tops. I'm getting quotes of 9-10 hours at $100 an hr.

$1k install is way too much IMO. If you can handle a level, follow directions to (maybe) remove your grill, wire up to either existing +/gnd wiring or install a fuse splitter, and optionally take the time to install the switch cleanly/hidden, then you can do this yourself in a day (and much shorter once you've done it before, the first time always takes the longest).

The hardest parts might be getting the wiring in from the engine bay to the cabin (I'm not familiar with 135i's), but I bet someone has posted a howto online somewhere.

I got the BMW Dual version installed yesterday. It took a couple of hours and cost $175 for the job. I can't imagine that any good installer would take 9-10 even for the quad version. It seems to me that the rears would be easier to install than the fronts since there's no need to go through the firewall.

I dont know if this is in anyway of help, but I have had 2 quads installed in 2 cars. Yes, thisis in Western Australia, but a car is a car (even if it is upside down under the rest of you US people!).
1 was in a Commodore VE (GM G8) and the other in a porsche cayenne. The Commodore was $300A, and the Porsche was $350A. (Aussie dollars). Each took about 4 hours at the auto electrician. This guy does a lot of them so he knows his way around, but even a novice should have some idea if what they are doing!!!
