Need help finding correct USB adapter to fit Li cpu for update

Can anyone help please if they know which usb serial adaptor to use for a laptop using vista. Thank you. I need to set jammer sensitivity down a little. Thank you.
Cant use my pc and dont own alaptop so have to try to use my friends and its old one runs windows 7 the better working one runs vista. so Im looking for the vista cord part number.
I tried the forum webpage showing other cables etc but not for vista unless vista confirmed 64 bit is the same thing. It doesnt come out and say this type usb works for vista laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do. Pleas esend me a part number if you find this info out or know it. Thank you. This is for doing updates,etc for my Li.

I use Vista laptop and USB Serial Cable by Gigaware from Radio Shack. Can't find anything else on cable and I'm not at home now. Comes with CD that has driver on it.
Cost about $40 at R/S. There are cheaper that may/may not work.
