Default Drive-Smart = Drive-Dissapointment? Sure, but it makes sense

It's truly dissapointing Drive-Smart was unable to send a unit to the GoL for testing, however does it really make that big of a deal for your purchasing decission? Lets get real here folks! I'll be the first to admitt that I tested the Laser Mimic and it worked flawlessly right? Later on a blind purchase was made and it was proven the Laser Mimic's build quality was ****. Was I given a juiced unit? Yeah.

    The Point
The point is Drive-Smart doesn't have a retail unit available for sale. Why would it be in the best interest of Drive-Smart to throw the jammer in a box if they openly admitt they were having pre-test software problems? Torbin at blinder had a huge embarrassment when his prototype failed at SML! Why would Neil want his jammer to be black listed if it's not working flawlessly like all the other jammers provided by the manufacturers at this GoL test? Leon complained becase this GoL test is not blind. I totally agree with him.

When drive-smart has a product to sell that's the time we should all be on our toes. In the mean time lets figure out what's wrong with jammers being sold NOW. I hear brand XTSDJ rev. 987 is coming out in 2007 and it jams everything. They didn't show up at this GoL test either! Holy shi# they must not be a real jammer company then huh.

Drive-Smart is not a shell company either if you do your research. They manufacturer and produce GPS units that are for sale and have been on sale for a long time. It's not like DS is hand soldering units out of a garage. They're a professional company making other products as well and if you look at their laser jammer proto pictures it's clear as day they really are working on a unit.

The problem with this board is we talk too much about products not being sold and dont' pay enough attention to the problems with products being sold. One step at a time folks. Lets give these threads content they once had.

Yeah. We have never even seen a picture of the full unit. Never seen a test video of it either. Only test video I saw from them was they were shooting a parked car!!!!

Anyone want to buy a Drive-Smart Defender 2 jammer? I don't think so. No one has EVER tested it or even seen a picture of a Defender2.

I thought we were told that we would be sent the Laser Defender 2 then we would download the software from their site?

You missed the point. You don't even have a choice of purchasing a Def2! I'm sick of hearing about DS when no product is available for purchase. If you can't buy it why do people care? Buy a jammer that's currently availabe with easy access to upgrades or simply wait for a jammer to come out. If you can't wait for the jammer to come out then buy a unit that is. pretty simple.

Promises, promises, promises. At least the hand solder companies showed up and delivered units as promised

I agree about the content of the forums issue. We have all become fixated on the latest and greatest. That much I will agree with.

The phrase to describe DS is "Over promise, and under deliver".

You wouldn't want members of the forum to start dredging up all of the crapola that has been dished since last fall? Winter? Spring? The last month perhaps? Chris you should know intimately because a large portion of those threads you were in the heat of the whole thing. You see we have been hearing about how this GOL test was going to go. It looks like many folks even held off purchases in the hopes of getting a look at the DS product at the GOL tests before making a decision(myself included). So you see WE do GET IT... The problem is GOL didn't GET IT.

You see we have been listening. We have been waiting. If your going to make excuses for this major screwup you should batten down the hatches. It is going to be rough seas for DS going forward. Nobody wants to hear any more BS from DS.

Most of us have been generous hosts and have politely entertained DS even when things were going very very badly for them with all the pissing contests. The time for patience is done in my book.

They can come back NEXT YEAR when they have a REAL, SHIPPING, RETAIL product that can be tested as part of a blind GOL purchase. Until then talk to the hand... If you want to let DS keep blowing smoke up your arse until you look like a Goodyear blimp that is your choice, but don't expect a lot of us to have a lot of tolerance for anymore nonsense.

My answer is simply yes, Chris.

The reasoning for this is: We were told that Drive-Smart was SUPPOSED to be out last fall. Then, it was pushed back to the first of the year. Now, we are into late spring....going on summer. That, in and of itself, is a HUGE disappointment. BUT....the folks at Drive-Smart HAVE TO know how important this testing is. This is HUGE free publicity and a chance for them to get their name not only out, but their "reputation" established at the same time. This could have been HUGE for their sales and reputation. After all, the GOL team have been preparing for this for several MONTHS now! And months AFTER the date which their product was ORIGINALLY said to be released! The GOL date was set out a long time in advance, and if I'm not mistaken, even pushed back a few weeks.

So considering how many people have put off purchasing decisions and waited for these results....only to be greeted with this news....and yes, I think it is reasonable for folks to look elsewhere and say the heck with DS. Maybe they can rebuilt their rep and credibility over time, but I don't think that anyone will be (or should) hold their breath any longer. If people give up on them, then I (for one) can't really blame them one bit.....

Read the original post. Go to "the point" section and reread.

Save this forum from talking about stuff that doesn't matter. Just talk about the products actually for sale and then we'll save this forum from turning into the crap it has turned into these past few months.

JTW, You have the option to buy a Def2 right now on preorder... Oh, I forgot they said they are shipping the end of this month... Dang it, it IS the end of the month...

Who wants to sign up to take delivery? Oh, I forgot GOL already signed up to take delivery...
